I feel sorry for all that employees are going through..who have given their heart and soul and worked for this company. Hope all the employees get or move into something that really deserves their effort .

Millions invested in HAMR? Eh hem. Try again. Over 4 billion has been black holed for HAMR. What’s the ROI on that? Break even in by 2050.
Seagate is ramping up HAMR production in the next two quarters. No need to feel sorry. Seagate has invested millions of dollars in HAMR Technology.
With HAMR reaching mass production, now is the worst time to leave. Things are finally turning around!
My severance after 17 years of ASIC Design effort: 2 tshirts, a baseball jersey, and a coffee mug. They said jump, I said no. Best decision ever, even with the resulting termination. I'm a saver who had lived well within my means. Don't know if I would have had the guts to do that when the kids were younger. It certainly would have been a far more difficult decision. I feel for y'all as it sounds like it's only getting worse at Seagate and in the industry in general. Good luck folks. It's gonna get worse before it gets better. The only way to make things better will be standing up for what you believe in and rejecting their unreasonable requests.
It seems like some people who had years or decades to prepare for an event that is EXTREMELY COMMON at Seagate did not do so! Training up skills, 12 month emergency fund, fully updated resume and job site profiles, elimination of debt, etc. What were you thinking? It's Seagate! Yes, the company is run by greedy clowns but you probably knew that for awhile. Did you not seriously prep? That's on YOU. NEVER budget and spend money expecting to get any bonus or even your full paycheck at this company. Come on man. YOU KNEW BETTER. Good news. If you are still employed you probably have another 4-6 months to get ready for the next layoff!
Seagators. It’s a job. No more. No less. Give 40 hours of work at most or 36 hours at our current reduced rate. Ignore the indoctrinations. Enjoy the friendships. Leave the work at the door when you leave for the day. Understand, there is no loyalty from seagate. You work at the will of the company and thus the stockholders are your boss. Don’t forget to sell high at the layoff announcement at the end of the month. And many of you thought the 30 days of pay since 22 May was for your benefit. Suckers.
Umm, I’m married with kids and I did it. You just have to live way below the lifestyle you think you deserve. I only pay myself 50k per year and we live a nice life. And yes we also max out our out of pocket health cost every year too. It CAN be done.
Not everyone is in your situation and cannot save that much. If I was single with no kids or no family to support or not having health problems then yes I perhaps could have saved as much as you. Life is not the same for everyone.
Don’t feel sorry for me. I’ve saved well over a 1/2 million working here. Would not mind a going away present if it comes. I never gave my heart and soul to this job. Got a degree paid for in full. Had plenty of life balance time for the family. Lots of raises over the years. Fun interesting devices to work on and learn about. Nice flexibility usually later on. Early years were way more strict/ hard core. I don’t know what more I should have expected. Certainly not lifetime employment guarantees. The pay cut sucks but it’s still ok. Want to be like me? Save 50% of your money. No exceptions.
You would need to be slow in the head if you gave your heart and soul to a company/business that wasn't yours.Hive them nothing but your work time.
