Thread regarding F5 Networks Inc. layoffs

Back to the office or leave!

Management requires all employees, including engineers, to return to the office. An unmissable 100km a day commute has to "clear your mind and allow you to disconnect", according to EMEA "leaders." The amount of cr-p we heard from HR today is hard to imagine. They will blame fa----g cows for emitting greenhouse gasses, but how about thousands of people starting their diesel or petrol cars and burning 10 litres a day to satisfy the maniac CEO's desire to "get F5 together".
Apart from this, there is no better way to "motivate" employees than ask them to spend 3-4hr a day commuting to the office to "socialize", "have a chat by a coffee machine", or "perform team activities". Indeed, this decision seems like a final nail to the F5's coffin.

Quiet quitting… Make excuses on finishing up weeks to get by.

...seems to me only when folks start to resign or post negative reviews in high numbers on glassdoor (which impacts hiring) management change course..but the tech market is down... F5 knows we all cannot or don't want to change company at the moment ...that's why they feel confident F5ers will not move as a result of this very unpopular measure.
Buckle up .... there will be more of these high impact initiatives to come ...
there is a golden opportunity for the company to squeeze more profit by reducing costs or have more control and for managers and leaders to be promoted to the next level by successfully implementing difficult policies FLD wants implemented.

Executives are terrible at this company... anyone else thinking of jumping ship? Then again, I think that's what they want... more people to leave. F5 is definitely not the company it once was. It's going downhill fast. Now, to leave or to stay (and get a severance package if I'm laid off).. hm...

The layoffs was all about getting rid of highly paid employees and replacing with lower cost people.... As the saying goes 'Great Leaders sacrifice Profits to save People. Poor Leaders sacrifice People to save Profits..... We've all seen where FLD fits in.....

Given how the upper management acknowledges that F5 may lose talent, it seems like the RTO move is made on purpose. This way, people will resign on their own. F5 won't need to announce layoffs and give severance packages. It will save money and make shareholders happier. Off you go, how to approach shifting workforce to India.

FLD and the McKinesy-monkies are only focused on pumping up the stock. F5 is now a 2nd-tier company. Under FLD leadership the company really has not accomplished anything. I can't think of a new product that has been brought to market. It certainly is not a growth company. Its living off of BIG-IP ( the cash cow). FLD could not give a damn about the employees. They don't care. Big failures I can think of: Outsourcing to India . Acquisitions. Executive Management. Loss of critical developers. No new hardware refreshes.

How do F5 compensate for those many lives that have changed through th pandemic? Many now have families with young children, pets, home commitments.......

F5 will not get back to its heady days of Growth until..

Debt from Bad acquisitions is paid off. (prob through layoffs)

They replace FLD with a seasoned veteran.

glad I was part of the recent RIFF, I was there 10 years...F5 has lost its identity. The SLT that has been there for 15 years plus need to step up at FLD has lost traction, company went downhill after McMillan left.

McKinsey lost my respect early on during a company wide zoom presentation call when she was trying to hide glancing at her cell phone under the desk. If it was that important, she shouldn't have been part of the group presenting.

I wonder if this is a move pushed by some government incentive to bring employees back to the office to save the economy. F5 is not the only one. There are media campaigns all over the British press pushing for this agenda to stop WFH

OMG... This is so true. I haven't been here very long but what I heard as an answer when asked what are we working on was 'Something that doesn't matter to our customers. But it does matter to FLD.' It took me a few weeks to see that that statement was true. Everyone walking around wondering why are we doing this 'woke' stuff. Let's get crazy with technology. When I asked has this been taken to FLD about focusing on the tech stuff people just laughed and said 'He doesn't like to be told he's wrong'. You'll only do that once and then you're gone.

This is happening due to FLD putting ideology ahead of technology. We need to focus on having great products, not on dozens of EIGs. Everyone I talk with is tired of the constant emphasis of every new social fad. And you're right on Kara. Her take is its my way or the door is over there, you can leave. She has brought nothing to the table other than she has allowed FLD to check off a couple of boxes on his ideology list. Unless he changes or leaves we'll finish our downward spiral with a hard landing. But then he'll be off doing what he's wants to do, running a much bigger company then F5.

FLD and the McKinsey goons. There is no strategy. Keep your head down to not get smacked. Watch your back. Monitors will do a daily walk to assure butts are in seats.
