Thread regarding USAA layoffs

I can’t believe this

I don’t work at USAA but I’m a member. I got this website when I was trying to figure out what was going on there, and frankly if I should pull my money from the bank and go someplace else.

I honestly don’t know what to say, other than I’m genuinely shocked. I knew things had changed, I knew the benefits of banking there had become less and less attractive, but I had no idea the environment had become so toxic. It explains a lot honestly.

Anyway, I just wanted to let you know I’m sorry, and for those affected I hope you find a soft landing.

I had a meltdown when I told a former board member about how bad it is at work. They felt so bad because they recommended to me to apply to USAA because of how well employees were treated. It’s not a good place to work at all. The new executives are toxic verbally abusive and manipulative. It’s the non ex military leaders who are the most toxic It’s being terrifying because they can be. The executives spend so much budget money on things that are not exactly paid for by company money especially for a company that is losing billions of dollars and laying off thousands all while being told ’ that’s not good use of the members money ‘. Bad place. Bad unethical execs and yes I’m looking for a new job. But I don’t know if it’s just as ugly every where else

I was one of the first ones to stat coming back to the office and can tell you this is not all related to RTO. As an Army brat I knew USAA and had a membership before I worked here. In 2018 I moved my family to SA to start with USAA. At first, I could still see many examples of what made this a great company. Not anymore. I hate the people I work for. I hate that I am required to lie to my employees. My kids don’t want to change schools but I won’t find another job that pays like this in SA.

I’m an employee and I pulled my money out long ago. The bank is being run ineptly and continues to receive regulatory actions. The risk department and the Bank are being run by people with no scruples and no knowledge of regulations. They completely dismantled the programs and are violating regulations and lying to regulators constantly.

Also an employee: morale is horrible. Lowest I have ever seen in 12 years here. This is NOT RTO. This is Wayne and his crooked EC, especially HR

Employee here: I also want to see us get through this, but I have pulled all my money and changed insurance companies. This is not because of RTO, this is because of dishonesty. No loyalty, no integrity and no respect.

@ked+1n8mXn6j = HR/Corporate Comm.

I remember when people would get fired if they lied to a member.

Really, only a few dozen? Yeah, that few dozen is what’s making the overall employee morale as bad as it’s ever been. I don’t know which office you’re in, but here in Phoenix, it’s bad. It’s not just a “few dozen,” it’s basically everyone who is miserable and working in fear hoping they’re not the next ones to be laid off.

Do what's best for you, but there are 30,000+ employees working hard and a few dozen here constantly complaining. Things can definitely be better, but 99% of the complaining is because people are going to have to go back to the office like every other business seems to be doing.

It is not only going back on promises.

They are actually faking ways to fire employees so they do not have to pay severance packages. For the almighty dollar, they are willing to destroy employees who joined them in good faith, destroy their reputations, and harm them long-term. The only "choice" is to quit and scramble in a harsh economic market, or get your reputation destroyed.

Care to bank with them? Do you trust them?

I do not, any longer.

Change banks before it’s too late

If this place is willing to flat out lie to its own employees and renege on promises they made during recruitment and the hiring process, I can only imagine how badly their customers are getting screwed.
