Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Busier than ever doing nothing of value

RTO has been a nightmare, every manager is throwing endless office meetings for everything they can and the inference is very clear if you cant do them all you are lazy or snowboarding somewhere.

We are being made so busy with internal meetings that are not a priority or productive (but have to sit through) that we cant get our actual customer work done.

yes, all my calls are on zoom and we're in the office. As long as you have people in your office that are remote, you will have this.

We are being asked to go into the office to attend a VC. Read that again.

This is the same with every company that is forcing back to office. There is a certain management or person that is push push push to get people into the office for every meeting or phone call that could be done in 5 minutes. Normally they are the ones with children so the office is how they get away. Unfortunately they drag everyone with them.

Productivity drops totally as time tables that are well managed and optimised need to move around to slot in brown bags and standups plus hours of driving. See how long this lasts.

Stop everything and do nothing office meetings. The people who were already overloaded will walk just to get some customer work done.

They’re trying to force the attrition rate higher. Not enough people have quit to supplement the layoffs to bring payroll down. It’s quite pathetic really.
