Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Tom Lying Again

I really do enjoy watching Tom and Bob Toohey continuing to promote Allstate’s work from home policy when Tom actively was advocating in meetings to have full time work from home employees go to independent agent offices to work so they could feel the culture of Allstate.

Let’s also pretend Bob didn’t gaslight the entire organization by claiming Allstate “was never 100% remote, we’ve always been a flex environment. Ignore all the emails and communications and marketing we did touting we were 100% remote forever, we didn’t really mean that.”

A lot of policy holders also are learning Allstate doesn’t mean what they say about their coverages, either.

Let’s set aside that agents aren’t Allstate employees, what purpose would it serve to have employees from different orgs, different levels, and different teams….set inside an agency owners conference room and work 1-2x a week like Tom wanted?

Tom is running out of people to blame for his complete, total, and utter failure in leadership. At some point shareholders should demand the removal of this clown who is completely out of touch with anyone that isn’t a white conservative male over the age of 60.

I missed this. Are they talking about making people come to an office again?

I'm sure Bob is 2nd guessing his decision to come to Allstate every day of the week. HR has always been seated at the back of the bus at this company, and the facade of an inspired and engaged culture with transparency as they navigate the problems is sad to watch.

Great post from the OP. Homeowners is about to make a dramatic turn from profitable to a loser. Stay tuned. The way we operate is atrocious and customers are taking note in droves. We are getting blasted on social media. Our sales force is at wits end and claims staff massively over worked. It’s insanity how much of a disconnect there is and how little of a f the BOD seems to care/notice

I don't consider it Tom lying as much as him and his cronies just being inept from a business and intelligence standpoint unable to run this business in an ethical and profitable way.

TW used the pandemic decline in driving and accident frequency to accelerate his Transformative Growth ambitions. Cut what was excess staffing for a moment in time, significantly reduced the real estate footprint, and essentially boxed himself in. There are very few physical locations remaining, and the workforce is much more widely dispersed as talent was sourced nationally and not just from those with proximity to an Allstate location. Home Office sold and destroyed, and most field leases of regions and claim offices allowed to expire. There is little optionality to go back to offices, new leases would hurt expense ratio, and there has been PIF reductions (no growth other than Nat Gen). He packaged as bold moves, yet like most of his other strategies, another dead end.

If it's an Allstate leader then it's lying. Period. I consider everything that comes out of an Allstate leader's mouth a lie until I 💯 see otherwise. If their foul lips are moving or if their crusty fingers are typing then they are lying.

Y’all ain’t stepping a foot in my office. With the way leadership views agents, they will responded to in kind.

Aside feom he said she stuff that exists in this thread, the reality of it is, if a business problem arises from being 85% remote they will need to address it. Other companies are now, and even those that previously declared remote. Doesn’t make it wrong at the time, but things change quickly and the business problems go deeper than simply productivity. Be interesting where Big A ultimately ends up, as there were many no longer there that cautioned about the current path and its ability to be altered without backlash. Time will tell.

It’s all strategy. Just think for a moment If the USA team, or a majority of it, is required to return to some office, wherever that may be, pick up and move across country, whatever it takes to get your a-s back in an office, many will “voluntarily” quit. Wow! That would sure save on severance and then it would be so easy to hire offshore as they are hungrier than ever for USA jobs. Their words are lies. Think what they said in March 2020 and what they did 3 months later.

As long as TW is raking in the massive bonus, he’ll continue to say whatever needs to be said to keep his cash coming in!!!
