This is official, my colleague who was terminated on Friday didn’t get severance benefits, actually in the termination letter he has to pay part of his last paycheck since he was terminated before finishing the two weeks

“ This makes no sense. First off we are paid in arrears not in advance. So paying back money makes zero sense”
For your surprise, we actually get paid in advance, the employees who was let go on March were on March 3rd not March10th, because of the two weeks pay period
Hey OP what about you? Did you decline or accept the move? This whole post makes no sense. Ordering someone to give backpay because they don’t finish two weeks, really? We don’t get paid ahead of time, we get paid after we work so there’s no way he would’ve received a paycheck for work he didn’t do it yet.If this person was terminated it was for a reason other than declining a relocation. I think this whole post is complete BS.
For those id--ts that keep saying severance has nothing to do with termination for not complying with the company rules and regulations
You are misleading many people and driving them to take wrong decisions that impact their lives and careers
So shut your mouth
Be careful
Never trust at&t
They study their moves carefully and legally
So you should do the same
We are in a survival game, T for the shareholders is falling apart and trying to survive by any means including stripping you your benefits and throw you into the street
Do anyone here know someone rejected the move and still got his severance?
We need to have a call with the HR and get this documented
This makes no sense. First off we are paid in arrears not in advance. So paying back money makes zero sense.

Not if you get terminated
You get nothing
"Technically he doesn’t qualify for severance since he was terminated, this is in the books of all companies not just T
He should know better before rejecting the move"
Well, this is why it still feels like it's not the whole story. We've been told (well, many have, who then shared it here, personally I haven't been told officially yet) that you will have 2 choices:
- Relocate on your own dime by a specific date. Or...
- Accept the severance and leave in 2-3 weeks.
This situation we've been discussing for the last few days, suggests that an employee refused to relocate and for that, he/she was terminated on the spot without severance. It doesn't add up. Maybe they refused to answer? Maybe they used inappropriate language or made threats? There must have been something else that caused the action. Heck, maybe they only worked at AT&T for a couple of years and don't qualify for severance? Just feels like we're not getting the full story.
Now the game is clear
T is pushing us to reject and get terminated and lose all our benefits
Fu-k you AT&T
I kept telling everyone, severance package is only if you resign or get layoff, but not terminated for not complying with the company rules and regulations

This has been reviewed by an employment attorney. If they try and not pay severance after demanding you relocate, the lawsuits will be in abundance and employees will recover MORE than severance.
It’s obvious
Termination mean losing all your benefits and good luck find other job with this in your records
This can’t be said enough, but you can never, ever trust T or anyone in HR.
I blame his manager, he should explained to him the consequences of not complying, not just forward the rejection to the HR
I am so confused
What I can’t move for health reasons? Still get terminated and lose all my benefits!!!!!!!
This is not fair
Technically he doesn’t qualify for severance since he was terminated, this is in the books of all companies not just T
He should know better before rejecting the move
"I saw this happens many times over the years, some employees get terminated for different reasons and they lose all benefits
Not complying is a reason for termination"
We have to be very careful, guys. I won't be surprised if the company does demand your answer on relocation on the spot, and if you don't, claim you refused, meaning non-compliance and a fireable offense. To be clear, I don't think it's plausible, but if we start seeing reports of it, I won't be shocked, that's for sure.
AT&T is officially a monster feeding on its employees

Guys who was terminated lately for rejecting RTO please fight for your rights, don’t accept the termination letter and lose severance without a fight, hire a lawyer and go after T until you get all your right
This termination could impact your career and finding other jobs
