What is Yammer?

How does it work? Is it like Facebook?

It is something new which lots of old timers will fail to grasp because they can't learn anything. You know, the ones that complain for the sake of complaining.

More HR cr-p that's useless for day to day, I guess they need to make themselves relevant, and another Microsoft Sales guys made a fat commission check (Yammer is a Microsoft product) .

Meanwhile they're asking me to turn off my VM at night (in Azure) because its costing them too much, you know the VM I use to do do actually work.. holy cr-p this fckn place is insulting how they can pi-s money on one hand but penny pinch on the other.

It honestly sounds like a product name they would use in a tv show or book about a tech workplace. I was added to one group without my approval. I get emails when they post something. I haven't been told to add myself to an all-company channel. I would love one for my building.

"It's a HR / corporate trap. I do not / will not use it..... ever."

It's shocking how many people actually voiced their displeasure and concerns about the RTO on there. I mean, good for them, but I would never say things many have said with my real name attached. Sure way to get on the surplus list, IMO.

I believe it’s supposed to be more like Twitter. I think the company uses Teams for a lot of things which would be better suited to Yammer. I hate being in so many “teams” and getting tons of notifications I have to silence

we used to have tspace which had forum, yammer is a microsoft product. it does feel a bit more like facebook than a forum. but similar.

you can tune down all the notifications.

you get force added to your bu.
can join groups based on topics of interest such as 'total wellbeing', or the financial forum'
i feel like under tspace we could freely discuss benefits. 'total wellbeing' tends to be the corporate line.

like insider, yammer is largely filled with people who drink the koolaid. cause while you can say whatever you want on your last day, generally we'd rather not lose our job by identifying ourself as a 'detractor'

Its an internal message board divided into groups that you become a member of. The company I work for uses it as means to let employees know about maintenance issues of buildings and software. Everyone is required to join the main "all company" group so they get important messages from the company.
