Just curious, our VP is still wanting us to complete the 40 hrs of training for the performance review, this amidst all the layoffs, no bonus, no promo, no merit increase, and pay cut. What world do these people live in? There is no morale left, they’ve taken every incentive away. Have you’ve been asked to complete this nonsense?

Picture books, coloring books, scrapbooks ... all books count.
yeah, go get some books and read at your own pace, and make sure that Seagate pay for those books. I bought a bunch of books for my own personal library until my manager started noticing and said no. I also did get some certifications from professional organizations. Milk them dry - and go do it!
After the economic cycle gets better, the salaries would be restored with everyone getting 15-20% hike
I highly recommend reading the books by James Harriott.
He was a veterinarian (Animal doctor) and writer.
I learned so much from reading the books, like how to deal with the farmers. There are friendly people and not-so-nice people. Rich and poor. Even though the stories are 100 years old, not much has changed
I learned so much like how to deal with people inside a company. Please read the book and get credit. A dream job.
I also did an MBA. Did not learn much from it.
There were some really good courses on the LinkedIn site that are worth taking for work post seagate. I became a quiet quitter after others took credit for my work. My status taking manager, director and vp were always saying "We did it" after only gathering my status. None had a understanding of how the drive actually worked, had really poor judgement and collected an exorbitant salary for a ppt summary. I wanted the verp, but was not old enough because the age bar kept moving. So, I waited them out, worked slow, waiting for some direction from management that never came. This lasted a few years. Quiet quitting has been around for decades, it used to be called something like a slow work strike. Someone at some level really should take an account of how a product gets from the beginning to a manufactureable product and make sure the problem solvers are compensated. None of the management are held accountable.I was really unhappy working in that non-functioning environment.
Don't do it. Just say no. It's the only way they'll stop pushing the nonsense.
What is the pay cut? 10%, sliding scale?
Yes. Just fake it. Claim you read a couple of books that you read years ago. What are they going to do, demand to see your library receipts? If one of the books you list is about quiet quitting you get double hours.
