Thread regarding Follett layoffs

A lot of fat in this company

The fact that the company cut good employees instead of fat is totally disheartening, isn't it? More than ever I feel like I'm working hard so that others can get big paychecks.

Fall Rush will probably be the downfall for a lot of stores and employees.

Many campuses were upset with the layoff. I'm curious if anyone knows how many contracts they lost or will loose?

It is time to start looking for a new job. They do not care about you and It is not worth your health. They will keep demanding more and it will never be enough, so stick to your Job description while you look. When this restructure fails (and it will) the investers will be demanding accountability. Unfortunately by then it will be too late. You need to focus on saving yourself. There are plenty of good jobs out there that pay the same or more without ki-ling yourself.

Too much fat?!? How else could we change the orange in the logo and change the fonts. That takes $100k in manpower easy.

Just show up to work and do the minimum to run the store. Stay in good standings while you look for a new job. Almost every company will beat the Follett pay but watch out for companies hiring too many people as they will probably be similar to Follett in conditions. I’m ditching them but making sure I make a wise move. They do not care about you or your skill set. It won’t be until after Fall Rush that the brain drain is felt and I suspect their reaction will only to increase GM and ACCESS… not talent. They will ride that train as long as they can and then move cuts will come.

I have been angry and bitter. I only just realized it was draining my soul. Seriously..... I never thought it would come to this. I'm leaving even if I have to get a minimum wage job.

This used to be the best company I ever worked for. Now it is by far the worst.

The new structure is so top heavy.... I think Follett is going to go under anyway.

The illusion is thinking you'll be happy working anywhere. The way to look at it is - find a job that doesn't drain your soul so you'll have enough energy to have a meaningful life outside of work.

Why stay? Go find something you can be happy doing. The cheese has moved. You can whine about it and wait for it to return or move on to find new cheese.

Yes, Follett ran the business for 149 years until it was no longer a viable business and sold it an investment company that thinks the management in the Ivory Tower is more important than the staff operating the cost centers.

The Follett family is sipping wine in the Hamptons and golfing on the north shore while you toil over you investment company employer’s ethics. Their sole purpose is return on investment. It’s not personal.

Exactly so, that is what JRC is expecting, demanding from you.
They need to make a healthy profit for those who invest with the James family. Also to prove the Follett family was just incompetent.
