Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

ATS Org FAQs reference two waves of surpluses

Search it on Insider. 1st wave for those outside of the 9 core locations to be notified in late June and reporting to office location by Dec 31st.

2nd wave for those outside of ATS’s 4 chosen hubs (Seattle, Dallas, Atlanta, NJ) will be late 2024. For example, someone in LA will be given a choice to relocate to one of the four ATS cities, but only given that notification at end of 2024.

Anybody have more info? Are any other orgs planning to do “waves” like this?

"How is getting an exception going to help? If you’re not in a hub city, and you have a valid [medical] reason to be TW, you still have to report to the office (eg. Dallas) at least once a month. So you’re going to fly across country 12+ times a year to be in the office"

Or you can do six times a year... for example, October 30th is a Monday, go to your location Monday October 30th through Thursday Nov 2nd, and you covered two months with one trip...

How about the 10% exceptions we heard about? Where do they fit in all of this? Maybe if a person is designated as Wave 1 then they can be given an exception? If so, why then would they have put the person in Wave 1 and instead make them Wave 2? Makes no sense.

You don't get to choose which ATS location, you are told what location to report to.

This isn’t new news to those of us in ATS … it’s been announced for close to 2 weeks. It’s not technically a surplus , but part of the RTO/reorganization the company is doing. Although the details are still in flux, yes- the basic idea is those not close to the 9 centers will either be asked to move by the EOY or accept severance and be off payroll (likely sometime in July) . Not sure if everyone will be given the option to move or only certain teams/positions.

There are 3 waves in the CTX timeline, the final as I recall is in 2026.

HOW PHUCKED UP IS THIS COMPANY, really going to the jugular of its employees! AT&T is in a sad state of affairs due to mismanagement and the rank & file have to pay the price!

There is no mention of surpluses in the document you're referencing.

Per QA if job is moving u receive formal notification closer to the move. If u are waive 2 that will be 18-24mo from now. However, per QA u will get info about your new designation and anticipated long term location by Jun 30 from your supervisor. So u have plenty of time to think about it.
