And you haven’t been contacted yet, does that pretty much assume you aren’t being considered?
Does it normally take a long time to hear back if you are?

I applied to a position and it was closed. I didn’t know why so I emailed the hiring manager and he told me they had to close and open a new one. I was not informed of this directly. I had to reapply then I got the interview.
As has been mentioned it could very well be that it was only intended to be open a set period of time or they have hit some threshold number of applicants and have closed it out to sort through what has been received.
Duh.
Babe that means the talent pool was trash so they bounced. What market are you located in so I know to never live there?
standard practice here. post for a set period of time to collect applicants and then take the posting down to evaluate the candidates. if they find someone, they will screen and then interview. if they don't find someone, they may put the posting back up.
i think there is a minimum time for posting but other than that, i wouldn't sweat unless a week or two goes by AFTER the posting is taken down
if a position is closed, it's no longer available.
if it was filled, you would have gotten a decline notice.
I have had it both ways. Got contacted the day after posting, and also 2 months after applying and got both positions. The 2 month one was in 2021. I have also had an application sit for months and get a reject 4 months later. It is so inconsistent!
I've applied for 5. Interviewing for 2. Never know if I'm a "check the box" candidate (e.g., they already have someone in mind for role and just need to go through motions w/other interviews for "due diligence"). We'll see.
I have applied for jobs with zero response. Our HR and recruiting is the worst
It could mean that the job req was pulled. That happened to me not that long ago. Jobs get pulled for any number of reasons, including:
- manager dissatisfied with the applications received, so will wait for the right person instead of hiring the lesser of evils
- position is still needed, but funding got pulled
- position was recently determined to be suitable offshore
- and so on...
It's frustrating, but Wells has shown over and over again that planning isn't in its wheelhouse. And by that I mean planning anything.
