176 VPs..... Wish I was joking

There was a VP whose gauged his impact and influence based on how many VPs he was able to create. My guess was he was not the only one. Probably a competition amongst VPs.
Don't worry, they are hiring a new VP of VP inflation to take care of that.
And look where the targets always are for cutting costs.. mostly the bottom few levels. The people that actually make things and solve problems.
Has nothing to do with capability. Seniority & (really really) bad salary bands seems to be the problem.
I counted 514 Directors on the global org chart (excluding Technologists, Principals and CTLs etc)
I find it crazy when I see VP and Directors stacked up in a org. What we need is a board member who is executive cutter and starts to say goodbye to them. Long time waiting.
What a joke if 176 is the real number of VPs
Even 74 is a horrible number the cost of that is truly staggering. Not to mention Principal’s that are paid at Director Level. Now add in the constant travel to Bangkok for Free Food and (Entertainment). Average Directors with pay kickers are getting 300k US a year now add in Free annual stock allocations. We have some wonderful people at Director level but the VP’s will get rid of the good ones for self preservation reasons. Seagate will be a wonderful case study in College Business classes for all the wrong reasons. Good work BTW I always get frustrated at 50 Veeps and give up.
Now imagine how many directors with just a couple of direct-reports. Terribly bloated management levels all over the company.
I counted 74 earlier…
