Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

If you're put on a PIP, move on

If you are pip'ed, you are better of doing nothing and use office hours to look for a new job. Once pip'ed you are unlikely to get ranked higher than Q4 (more likely Q5) in the foreseable future even if you make it past the PIP

This is the best advice you can get regarding being put on a PIP. I don't know one person who either wasn't let go or got stuck in their position after a PIP.

Honestly, if you get a “good” or below, fire up LinkedIn

Once PIP, you need to have a strong manager sponsor of your rank group to support your move up. It only takes one mediocre manager to hold you back.

Post one title of an employee that has gone from bottom to top in 2020-2023.

If you are at the bottom, you will be the sacrificial lamb in today's performance reviews.

It doesn't matter if you are PIPed or not, JUST MOVE ON. There's nothing left at Exxon. No technical knowledge left here. Just PowerPoint managers.

Wrong. I’ve seen people go from bottom to middle and bottom to top

Good idea, but still use the media to talk about all the lies that EM minions try to hide using despicable tactics to fire people like PIP, NSI. Let all the people know about it.

Clueless managers create disfunctional organizations and roles that are destined to fail and take you with it. If you are in this situation, it’s better to leave to forge your own destiny than to be shoved into another soul destroying role.

Ya'll d-mb as fudge. Get PIPed then coast until the next cycle (if you pass of course). Milk 'em for mo' money.

I can't believe I work with such short-sighted people.

The folks I know that have been through a PIP and are doing well today are 1) technical and 2) have moved to another part of the company. You need critical mass of coworkers that don't know your performance history to recover.

“If you're put on a PIP, move on“

Most of you should move on period.

Go get one of those fantastic “tech jobs” that come with a 900% raise and infinite time off that you all keep posting about.

PIPs are used by vindictive and nonsense managers to drive the person to the ground. There is no thought to what impact it has on the person or the company. Leave!

Even if you pass the PIP your chances of having a good year again are limited at best.
