Thread regarding Seagate Technology Inc. layoffs

If you are aid off in US/Minnesota, read this!!!

Make sure you ask unemployment office to be enrolled in dislocated worker program. Lots of people not notified or notified late after previous layoffs. This program pays up to 3 yrs of unemployment if enrolled in training/degree programs. Pays for cost of those programs, computer if needed, transportation costs, etc. I ended up with over 120K in benefits if add up unemployment, master's degree program at private university and other reimbursed expenses. If over 50, there are additional benefits, can work and still collect unemployment. Love my new career and industry, pays more than Seagate and lots of opportunity/career advancement. So happy to have better job security in current times.

The dislocated worker program won't apply this time since jobs aren't being moved out of the US. They're just being eliminated.
