I've heard some of the new hires are making more than some of us who have been here for a while. What's going on here? I thought hiring a new, younger workforce was done to reduce costs. They're supposed to be cheaper, not more expensive than the rest of us. What am I missing here?

bqyc+1muNQL2W That is probably true but if DXC doesn't do annual merit increases how it's supposed to work is irrelevant and just makes a bad situation worse
@bqyc+1muNQL2W The merit reviews are conducted annually. However, the budget allocated is insufficient to bring the existing members' renumeration up to the same level as the new team members within a year. In reality, it takes approximately 2 to 3 years to try and equalize everyone's renumeration, which is not ideal.
Keep in mind that some new hires are NOT young and/or inexperienced. New people expect larger wages. Agree with the earlier comment that if DXC kept ALL employee salaries competitive and aligned with the market it wouldn’t be an us versus them attitude amount the employees. Let’s put the blame where it belongs, on the incompetent HR and execs who set the policies for pay and title that favor their own salaries in the megabucks and the average employee trying to stay afloat.
That would be fine @baal+1muNQL2W if DXC did regular salary reviews and took steps to reward those loyal long serving staff, to bring their salary inline with the new risky unknowns, but DXC doesn't. Even in the rare year there are merit increases it's just a blanket increase, no active management.
From a different perspective. Due to the impact of COVID, our attrition rate rose, necessitating the recruitment of new team members to ensure uninterrupted service for our customers. However, the surge in demand for resources during this period resulted in higher rates, leading to instances where we had to offer higher remuneration to new hires compared to the existing team members performing similar roles.
Is very simples.
DXC wants to hire someone. Person thinks.. "DXC is a c**p company to work for, and I'll never get a raise after I join. Then I need some extra money to put aside for when I get laid off. So I'd better ask for big bucks up front.".
Now, everyone knows that DXC is a crock. So they only go there for big bucks. I left four years ago, and I wouldn't go back. Even if DXC offered me double what I'm earning now, I still wouldn't go back. So the only way DXC can get people to join is by paying them loadsa moneys.
You'd think someone who earns as much as Sal does could work out that it would be much cheaper to retrain existing workers rather than laying them off then recruiting new, more expensive workers. But then, Sal never was much good at anything other than making loadsa money for himself, was he?
Employees Who Stay In Companies Longer Than Two Years Get Paid 50% Less
@1xut+1muNQL2W - another of Mikey's yes men; as we showed numerous years dedication to the Customers, fellow team members we should expect DXC to invest in use - training us, giving us new opportunities to expand and to gain new role, along with decent pay and conditions.
Yes DXC is doing this - trying to P1$$en staff with experience and years of service so not to pay Redundancy package - one trick is to bring new staff on high wage, to muscle them into your role and to push you out.
Oh stop it already, of course new hires are making more money. It’s been that way since the beginning of time !
When we were hired money was worth more and with no pay increases we are ducked.
New hires are paid the same as we were except since tve money is worth less they get more of it
If you don’t like it, the. quit and find a new job or shut the duck up
Because the mgmt believe existing employees ARE the problem. You obviously have not turned the company around, so the logic is they need to pay for new talent that can make the change. Of course, the management is unwilling to look in the mirror. But when you realize how you are viewed you will exit. DXC will never turn around. It will certainly never turn around for you, the current employee.
Simple answer.
Official corporate HR policy is to pay existing staff below market rates, they can't do that with new recruits or they wouldn't join (it's not like DXC has any other reason to join) so new joiners will be higher paid than existing staff of the same grade.
Please join the townhalls and raise these things.
It's because the management are incompetent, they freezing pay for experienced employees so they are leaving and are being replaced by less experienced employees on more money.
Mickeys gang tries to plan things by screwing employees but the results are actually more costs and bad services.
He needs to stop thinking short term and start by rewarding employees if this company is going to progress.
Yes, but you're assuming the management value experience and are altruistic.
Sorry - DXC, yesterday's technology tomorrow.
