Thread regarding USAA layoffs

There is no reason to mandate a return to the office

I'm a manager. I have found no issues with remote work over the past several years. I have noticed that my team appreciates the additional personal time more than anything. I believe that individuals who are unproductive while working from home are likely to exhibit the same behavior in an office environment. Nothing will change for them. While remote work may not be suitable for all situations, it is unnecessary to require those who are successful working from home to return to the office.

RTO is ki-ling morale in IT. I can't speak for other depts. but in IT, ppl are fed up. IT has lost a lot of valuable ppl of late and this is bad. IT is like a ship's engine room. W/out capable (and happy) engineers on a ship, it starts having problems. Same thing here. Wait and see. Amala is very unpopular, too.

Responding to the post containing "Are you crying like a snowflake", "Get over yourself", and "spare us your ignorant hypocrisy". I want to state thank you for your service. As I read the article regarding USAA layoffs in "https://sanantonioreport.org/usaa-companywide-layoffs-economy/", I wonder if this is the last. Companies are reviewing real estate costs and employee surveys. The pandemic is over. Hybrid models are utilized in some companies with two days WFH. As for myself, I served for over 10 years and worked in P&C IT for over 20 years. I know for a fact that personal information is compromised at home but mitigated under certain conditions. Recently I called USAA and I had to provide my SSN, birthdate, and PIN. After a customer service rep is connected, I was asked to provide a 6 digit number that is sent to my phone. The same phone to call USAA. So stupid considering that I provided security information to get to a representative. I won't get into the web security as I see flaws on USAA's website. That is your IT's responsibility. Now, do you want to play hardball. My recommendation is to communicate with management as a compromise instead of dictating terms. Otherwise, USAA may just layoff more employees.

This is a reply to the "veteran" who posted last. Get over yourself. I served 20+ years and have been a USAA member throughout all of those years. USAA employees worked remote to ensure employee saftey during the pandemic, just like many other companies did. Some of those same companies also have your personal information. Are you crying like a snowflake about other companies you do business with? If not, spare us your ignorant hypocrisy.
People like you give veterans like myseld a bad name.

As a veteran who has been a policyholder with USAA for 30+ years, i am not pleased with the company's service for the last 5 years. The company is losing it's signature customer service reputation and more importantly my trust. More and more, other veterans like myself are expressing the same concern. As a manager, maybe you should be more concern on where the company is heading considering the pandemic is over. Furthermore, I am not pleased to know that USAA allowed their employees to have access to active duty service members information in their homes regardless if it is all digital. I cannot wait until the next customer satisfaction survey!!!

Make sure you bring this up in the Leadership Meeting on Wednesday morning. The more of us who raise our voices together the better chances we will be heard.

We need our people leaders (managers, directors, ED’s, AVP’s, VP’s) to band together and have a united voice on this.

Every. Single. One. Are saying this same exact thing.

Logic, reason and sanity have no place in a world where the peacock always struts his superiority.
