6 October, and Julia is still trotting out the same line about London executive salaries. There is no super special CEO out there who is worth the money. If they’ve made it to that level, most likely they are there by fortune of birth and silver spoons, or ruthless arrogance. It won’t just be capability. (Can’t hurt to have Lady Hale as ‘mummy’ while being propelled up the corporate ladder Julia).
Anyone who thinks they deserve the current market salaries for CEO or CFO in London has already lost touch with reality, so not the ideal person to be leading a company.
When will the employees get raises?
She gave away the main reason CEOs want the job, including her own. Not to create shareholder value by listing in a market which values the companies better. But to line their own pockets. A case in point is DS and his deputy, AM. They gave themselves big raises before any of the so-called "synergies" from the Refinitiv deal were realised. And when the stock went down, they just promised more "cost synergies" and cut more headcount. She thinks, "If the UK pays its CEOs more, they will list here". Its just a corrupt mindset more than anything else.
It doesn't require a towering intellect or mercurial talent to send everyone's jobs to India, or to replace locals with timid foreigners brought in on co---e visas. Everything you know and love is being turned to sh-t because the bosses are applying a very simple playbook of penny-pinching, liability dumping, lobbying and stuffing their own pockets as much as they can.
I think JH is going to regret the backlash of that from her lower graded staff, except, they know they don’t have any teeth to fight it so it’s kind of a silent ‘I am smiling but inside I hate’ you mentality that is brewing. The report says that median pay at LSEG in the UK is 1/40th of DS’s pay. Now that’s still a pretty penny so if you are lucky enough to be earning that kind of money it would be very cheeky if you are delegating down to the folks who earn pittance and then selling those responsibilities that you should own yourself as if it’s some kind of ‘project’ to garnish more experience to elevate those lower grades careers. It’s happening day in day out and it’s testament to extortion and modern day slavery. There is no prospect of gaining any progression certainly in the UK and they are hoping you just get sick of it and leave. If you didn’t go to kings college and get a masters in sociology and came in on the grad scheme then you are now (it seems) considered a lower class surplus to requirements (and don’t complain because your job can be offshored). It is becoming a company only for Middle Managers to Board level in the UK. And it certainly helps if your from a diverse ethnic woke g-y background if you want those top jobs. Maybe the company need to look after the overall loyal majority instead of the select minority in the hope of winning browny points from the woke elite.
