With all the rumours being of a 2 day a week return to office, will it be monitored ? Will people with connected worker status be exempt ? Or will it happen at all

I've been full time working from home since 2018. I'm not going back to the office, period. And I only live 15 minutes away.
@3cej+1mqT8RIl
I’m look forward to returning here on Monday after you've received the email.
The email is coming on monday and im sure you are capable of converting KM to miles with a bit of help from your manager.
"Email coming Monday. Anyone under 50km to office will be asked to come in 2 - 3 days a week"
So you're only talking about India then, maybe. I'm sure you are not talking about the US using that metric cr-p (/s).
Anyone saying that company wide RTO is happening has no idea what they are talking about and has been paying no attention to the active encouragement of WFH and reduction of facilities/services.

my boss hasn't heard diddly squat about any of this. People are just gaslighting here
Boss confirmed RTO policy coming Monday email
@1yor+1mqT8RIl They pay peanuts currently
So there won't be an email on Monday ?
About an hour 😉. Who will decide how far away a person is
To repeat. It's not a company wide thing.
Just a few groups and directors trying to promote this.
just last week this forum would have you believe there was going to be 15k layoffs.
same idieots. different messages
So Dell will punish you because you live local?Seems like a massive mistake to me.
Or they want a massive amount of staff to leave.
It is 100% a real thing. 3 days a week company wide, if you live “within about an hour” of Dell site. This applies to all BUs and team members regardless of if you were remote pre-pandemic or not.
1-2 days or 3 days as you say ?
@2pyy+1mqT8RIl
We received an email a few weeks ago that said 1 - 2 days. Yesterday we were told a company wide email will come out on 5/8 and anyone within an hour commute of one of the four hubs will be required to go in 3 days a week.
" some managers and directors and not a company wide thing"
Yes. It's a microcosmic event. Pop and fizzle. Mostly fizzle.
so many theories about this. My director says he heard nothing about it so seems to be just some managers and directors and not a company wide thing
If you think of RTO as thinning the herd you couldn't be more wrong. You will actually thin out the best and strongest to use your analogy.
If they wanted to do that they would have just offered voluntary departure with severance.
I think the turnover rate is also already quite high within dell. So as long as they dont replace those bodies .....
what did ur manager say ? when is it being announced ? how many days per week
@2cqt+1mqT8RIl
That is honestly the only thing that makes sense to me and one of the first things I thought when we first were told. Our manager held a meeting with us yesterday about this and the biggest question was WHY? And there was no answer.
@2cqt+1mqT8RIl Agree on this one.
Why pay out when you can work out.
RTO to me seems the cheapest way to thin the herd without expensive redundancies. But that is just a thought, we will only know if/what happens if we receive official communications. Until then it is only speculations which can be entertaining for some and nerve wrecking for others.
Have a good day all.
Badge in and then turn around and go home.
I could get paid in bananas? That changes things.
"but why would some managers and directors think that they could get around the offical dell policy ?"
Lol. they would have you work 16 hrs and pay you bananas if they could get away with it.
history is repleat with authority abusing their powers.
you must be densely naive
but why would some managers and directors think that they could get around the offical dell policy ?
LoL. It is not a thing.
A few rogue directors and managers and trying to push it. Its not HR and company sponsored.
Just ignore.
What did you hear in Dublin ? Maybe it's just support as there are a lot of support in Dublin
Does EMC oh I mean Hopkinton building even exist?
Its a thing in Dublin.
Maybe juat Emea so far
nobody at 176 in Hopkinton has heard about this. Not sure it's a thing.
how many days will we be asked to go back for per week ? Will everyone have to use hot desks
It will be easy monitor RTO because for a lot of people it will be to hand in their badge.
half the kids walking into 176 don't badge in..they just trail the person in front of them.
badging logs. Dell wouldn't spend much time on actual technology but they do it on monitoring employees :)
Badging logs. It’s not that complicated. JC himself was tracking who badged in during the early height of covid.
I heard in news articles Apple was checking the badging logs to make sure employees were in the building. No idea what what Dell has planned, if anything.
