You pretty much nailed it..
Why is this a surprise? I think the strategy will fail, but what else would you say in the midst of the business spiraling down?
What if they said the unvarnished truth? How motivational: ! ?
The core business is under severe pressure with falling demand and extreme competitive pressures on margin. We are now negative cash flow and we are at risk of not being able to fund the IFS. We will be lucky if demand comes roaring back and by the grave of god we somehow execute perfectly and get share from TSM.
If you uttered the cold hard facts the employees would be completely discouraged and not put in the effort or leave.
It all will be clear you can’t hide economic and business fundamentals, the truth always prevails.
The biggest irony how can Pat with his faith stand up and say what he says!
