Thread regarding Open Text Corp. layoffs

Opentext severance package

It seems that 10 weeks severance pay is the max opentext will offer - even if you have worked with the company for over 10 years. Even frugal packages give at least 1 week for each year worked. Not to mention the generous Google, Microsoft etc packages.

Has anyone been able to negotiate more than 10 weeks with Opentext?

Well severance went out yesterday. Not only did they withhold 40hrs accured vacation, they shorted me on severance with only 2 weeks instead of over 4 weeks as promised. Glad to have opentext in the rear view. Best of luck to all those that remain. You will be lied to and stolen from soon enough

My employment agreement stated severance would be the GREATER of 2 weeks per week of employment OR the government minimum standard which is 1 week per year plus 1 additional week.
Apparently the word greater means nothing. They don’t offer the greater of, they offer the lesser of.
They treat employees terribly while working there and worse on your way out. The CEO only cares about income from customers and doesn’t care who gets stepped on in the process.

I thought about it but then it is not worth it as I wanted to close the chapter with this cr-ppy company. It is not worth my time. They are not getting back on HR related questions in a timely manner. Just not worth it in my opinion. They have done this so many times that their lawyers are good about how to answer this as well.
