Thread regarding F5 Networks Inc. layoffs

Foolish acquisitions

Sometimes it's hard to believe what senseless acquisitions they've made here. Just out of curiosity, which one do you think is the worst?

It's not just about making a good acquisition, it's even more important a company integrate what they bought or merge with, to get the best ROI. F5 did poorly on the acquisition, integration, capitalization and harvest their investment, since Acopia Networks.

The senselessness of any acquisition can be seen from many ankles. It depends what's your role in the organisation. Acquiring a company with too many unprofitable products, or even worse - not put on the market yet, must result in huge losses. I would even argue that an unverified idea, an idea not in the customer's hands, can't even be called A Product without market feedback! It seems like a classic example of an indie-hacker that spends 6-12 months building software in a vacuum to realise that nobody wants it. Relying solely on brand recognition won't bring money. You have to have great products that customers want to use because they solve their problems!
