Thread regarding F5 Networks Inc. layoffs

Once a layoff, always a layoff!

It's going to happen again. Tech giants all across the industry are being impacted. This may not happen at F5 in the next 1-2 quarters, but the new fiscal year starts on October 1st. Only time will tell. Also, with a major re-org of groups internally, the moral will head to an all time low. Expect to see changes coming again in 12-months. It started with the Security GM/EVP pushed out in January and now rumors of other high targeted names are potentially on the move. Spending close to $2B in acquisitions over the last 5 years and now the mistakes are finally showing up on the books.

@3ubm+1mfSR7wZ hits the nail on the head.

Elliott already has their claws into F5... the same ones that got Citrix in the end. Why didnt we just develop our own containerized LB and go up against the rest from our position of strength and MQ rating?

It's like looking in the crystal red F5 ball! This is 100% spot on from what I have heard. Could see other execs on the move in the coming months ahead. The GM for NGINX posted on LinkedIn he was sick to his stomach and is now just coming up for air as this is a huge loss for NGINX and the amount of people that had been impacted. Still do think NGINX was a bad move. With other competitors like Citrix also making a bid for NGINX, F5 had no choice but to do so and at a overvalued price. Look at Citrix now. Broken and bought by PE. Could the same happen to F5? It certainly could. Buy the company, and then split up the business units (long-term sell off) or maybe a potential acquisition by a larger company - Cisco, IBM, HP, etc...
