Highly doubt it STST is now the cheapest head manufacturing site thanks to strong Dollar to GBP and cheap labour with non existent benefits for shop floor employees. Investments in STST are heavily subsidised by government funding too. New tools are still currently being installed on site as we speak. Big Dave was here today and gave it the thumbs up. As for manufacturing HAMR also it will be the usual roadmap to production Normandale do the leg work and springtown do the volume as they are the most cost effective head producer.

The same people who continually roam the corridors of STST will be hiding when dave arrives.Theyll have to find something to pretend to do.

If any group of Executives deserve a unionized workforce it would be the hopeless pr*cks that run this place!

Makes sense now from a company point of view why they wouldn't accept the union even though at the time it appeared it would be a gesture of goodwill to an already disgruntled staff. They've known these layoffs were coming. They couldn't afford for the union to be involved in redundancy negotiations.

“So, you thought you were going to unionize and get more money out of this dying company entering a death spiral by playing hardball.... Oof. Bad timing.”

  • understandable now how hard they have been fighting to keep a union out, if they had made an agreement in February with the union, they would now be consulting with them. Malicious to the end.

We are hearing 25% across the board at NRM, people have been letting management know if they have interest in taking the package. Unlikely that Wafer Production will take much of a hit at NRM being understaffed and a new fab coming soon. Best of Luck to all except the F’ing As@holes who got us in this mess.

Don't listen to the rumors this is a lie no 50% cut at all this is ridiculous.
People love the scare mongering have you nothing better to do. This is people's lives.

What tools and how many are earmarked to move to NRM? Rumours or has it been officially announced?

With all the talk of tools being earmarked to get moved to NRM it's only a matter of time before STST runs dry without HAMR being made on site. Personally I'd take the chance and leave with a redundancy now and look for work elsewhere.

They'd be fighting to get redundancy. A lot of "Manufacturing Speacialists" have been here a long time and truth be told they are hoping for redundancies.STST isn't an attractive place to work.Wages are below average. When a supermarket shelf stacker is on a higher hourly rate then if course people will go for redundancy and get another job at better wages. Its not rocket science.

A lot of people say they will, but whether they do or not is a different story
