Truth: Around 500-600 people in a company with over 14K people which has been growing fast for its size is comparatively not a large layoff. While most are probably nice people, it seems as though 95% of those let go were a drag on the company who were consistently missing their goals or had irrelevant skills and really needed to go. CDW will be more lean and mean now. The revenue miss was not too bad either, 5.1 on 5.28 estimate on mostly laptops according to CRN magazine. The company is not in trouble AT ALL and is continuing to acquire teams. The people who were laid off received fair packages and were let go by people rather than an email like Google or Twitter did. All in all this will be healthy for the company and hopefully the people who were let go will find a better environment more suited for their skills.

NEED TO GET RID OF THE CFO WHO MAKES 9+ MIL A YR AND COULD CARELESS ABOUT EMPLOYEES MORAL OR POCKETS.. I HOPE THEY GET WHATS COMING TO THEM
This statement is not true, layoffs were done by mass email at CDW and it was do to the buyout of SIrus, they had to many duplicated positions not needed. and the market had dropped after covid. all about the Benjamin's
I hope they look at middle management where all the positive culture initiatives get twisted into a tyrants philosophically self-righteous b.s. f*ck parade. You want to know why culture doesn't beat strategy, then look no further than where democracy died==Middle management!
Yes, my team (UK) has our PMP goals. Apparently they are totally unachievable to make sure we don’t get a decent raise next year.
Anyone have 2023 PMP goals yet? We didn’t have them in 2022 until Q3.
I work at CDW and have for over 20 years. I can promise you this, some of the people they let go will definitely negatively affect sales that will impact our customers. If they thought Q1 numbers were bad just wait till Q2 because you got rid of great resources. What happens to all the things they were working on now that they are gone? Oh wait, it gets piled onto the people left who are already overworked and burnt out. Shows how disconnected leadership is because they have no idea some of the talent we lost.
Woke indeed. You couldn't pay me enough to work for them again. Consider it a blessing if you were laid off. You will be glad at some point. The previous CEO whose bame I will not outright include, is rolling in his grave. Scrape this woke place off and carry on with your heads high. Off to better places!
I was someone who was laid off from CDW and did NOT have lackluster performance. I’ve had more exceeding expectations reviews than the years I’ve been a coworker and consistently been promoted. The last promotion in which I felt was a strategic move, was also one of the departments targeted in this layoff. To say that this layoff was based on letting go of those coworkers with a lack of performance and/or relevant skills is pure ignorance.
Hey it's nice to see CDW's CEO post on here. Thanks for chiming in and failing this quarter despite a very resilient business model.
Question, would CDW's CEO be considered for that same role at Dell, SHI, Ahead, or Insight? With her track record, the answer is definitely no.
The problem CDW will run into in terms of attracting good talent is the relatively lackluster benefits package. I am a relatively newer member of the CDW team from one of the acquisitions in the last few years. We took significant hits to our benefits and perks package when we switched over to the CDW package. Also agree with the previous ESG comments as well.
All of the good talent at CDW are from acquisition. They come in, drive performance then figure out that the pay is below the industry, then they quit. CDW doesn’t pay enough to hire good talent on their own. The people who stay are mediocre performers who will accept mediocre pay- except sales. They do OK.
I hope the boot y'all are licking tastes good at least.
Unfortunately I agree with this post. In the last few years CDW became a place where nobody could be fired for lack of performance and ESG initiatives are just as important as actual performance, which is toxic to high performance. I hope CDW gets better at performance management and attracting good talent so in the future there are NO layoffs because the team is so strong.
