Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Conversation Showing Intel's Cultural Problem.

"Why is this electrical rule here? Do I need it?
"Yes - I verified with the content owner. Compliance lowers the risk of dead silicon."
"Have you seen dead silicon solely because of this rule?"
"No, but you can't ignore it. These things add up."
... fast forward 2 quarters to design reviews
"You have 243 instances where this rule fails."
"Can we waive it?
"No. This increases the risk of dead silicon. I told you 2 quarters ago."
"But you said there's never been a proven sighting. These will take a least a quarter to address. If you won't give me a waiver, you will risk schedule."
"I'm not signing off on your waivers."
"Who else can we ask?"

I didn’t do what you asked. Can’t you just waive physics? Just take responsibility for us.

Who needs rules and standards in product design when we more and more people believe you need neither in society? As long as you can blame someone else when the SHTF.

Then manager steps in and tells the quality engineer, good work but we need you to disagree and commit.... Then at review time, quality engineer gets an IR because silicon failures take the lines down. The review says, 'needs to show leadership and confidence in resolving tradeoffs to ensure product quality'.

Happens to me all the time where ppl get mad at me for making them do extra work. I even got a bad performance review due to hatred. Then 10x more time has to be spent going back and fixing it....................................................................................................°__°

@bgx+1mgtpnrY what makes you think that person got an IR?

I just got let go from Intel and I couldn't be happier. They did me a favor!

I wasn't dead weight but was very proactive to make changes. I did go above and beyond and was recognized for it. But eventually the same issues that make life terrible for fab techs just never got fixed. It's ridiculous how much bs you have to deal with. It's a dumpster fire managed by Daffy Duck! Management doesn't care. Upper management doesn't care. 'Do more with less' attitude. And such an undisciplined work force! Quality issue after issue - people just don't care. They expect IDM 2.0 to work when they can barely sustain what they have.

Intel really has an untenable culture issue.

The cultural problem is that this person wasn't immediately fired. An IR is a waste of time.
