What changed with UK on call / overtime?

Left last year but keep hearing people say there's been a change in the UK side to on call / overtime policy. What's the issue here? I heard their MIM team are now being told by leads "being short staffed isnt justification for overtime" but is this also meaning on call isnt getting honoured anymore or what?

To who said "You forgot to mention that you did your best to resist and desist from providing knowledge transfer to "India" when asked" is totally untrue and you can ask any of the India people I worked with. Most were certified, but still came to me for help. One US or UK person can do the work of 5 from India as we can work without a predefined script and don't say its not my job, or without a WBS I can't help

Your salary included being on call and working overtime ! Now I have been lucky to have managers that allowed me to take time if I needed it (but book it as time worked). It’s been like that since I started in IT at my 1st job and ended it at DXC when I left last year!

I agree you should get merit increases if you MEET or exceed your goals , but OVERTIME your already have a salary and are not paid hourly and have 10 days off every other month

You forgot to mention that you did your best to resist and desist from providing knowledge transfer to "India" when asked, kept all documentation close to your chest (or worse, destroyed those) and kept telling the client at the water cooler how rubbish "India" is and what a to$$er DXC is to be outsourcing work over there.
You also forgot to mention that the sleepless nights you are boasting of was probably due to something that you created yourself, to demonstrate your "worth" and the lack of same from "India"... a condition/problem only you knew how to resolve because you had created it in the first place as you have "privileged" access to production which is not documented.
Been there, seen that.
Amen.

'I always received comp time and time off if I wanted it'

Then, in effect, you DID get paid for it in case you can't work that out. You got paid at 1x rate.

What those who complain are saying is that they are working and getting NOTHING in return. Often even loosing holiday time off that they have PAID for out of their total package - so possibly not just not getting paid for it, but actually PAYING for the privilege.

Not something, it appears, our Dearly Beloved Mikey would do think you?

"I worked in IT for over 49 years , there had NEVER been OVERTIME pay."
If you allow an employer to repeatedly exploit in this way then I suggest you are either a wimp or foolish. Stand up for yourself and your colleagues.

20 hours that’s nothing, I have worked straight for 2 full days without sleep and sent home only to be called back for another full day because the India offshore team couldn’t handle it. Your still wimps

Because it’s part of the profession and that’s why we get paid the big bucks. I always received comp time and time off if I wanted it

Now with DXC never giving a pay increase even if you exceed most of your goals on that I say STRIKE

'I worked in IT for over 49 years , there had NEVER been OVERTIME pay. You all over in the other side of the pond are wimps'

Hm.. maybe I'm a wimp, but I choose to consider myself more intelligent than people who choose to work overtime for no extra pay. I think that money belongs to me and not to any Mike or any shareholders. PLUS overtime payment means less overtime as managers have to plan work better, giving me more time off. So why on earth choose to work overtime and not get payed

Very disingenuous attitude here. Maybe in the US / other countries that culture is OK but I expect to be paid for work.

Do you think someone should work on call for free? I had times where I was called out and kept on critical inc work for 20+hrs, to suggest I'm a wimp for wanting that to be honored is ridiculous
