Yes. Its actually an open secret. People bring their wives in the US. Help them pursue a masters in a school with courses relevant to the positions. Then rig the hiring process to hire their wives/cousins....relatives. HR knows this very well. They look the other way because they don't have to break a sweat. People who come in brag about it how they don't do sh-t in Intel and how the company isn't doing well anymore but fail to acknowledge that their own hiring corruption led to this. Increase family income, buy properties in Arizona and then rent them out. Half a-s their job because they are just there for the check. No wonder TSMC,AMD, NVIDIA combined has more revenue then Intel but their headcount is still less than Intel altogether. This type of corruption is prevalent in Indian and Bangladeshi communities. A job with less or no work with a steady paycheck is the ultimate dream in those countries. They know it well.

a lot of managers hire their friends ....even if they are NOT qualified.
they usually blame the project's lack of success on someone else.
usually they both are there just long enough for their resumes to look good (embellished)
then they move on to another friend's project.

project suffers.
people trying to make project successful suffer.
i call them job hoppers.

If this person is really your friend, they wouldn't recommend a job at Intel.
