Thread regarding Seagate Technology Inc. layoffs

Lack of morals

In a small casual meeting with Chris Woldemar an employee asked about the ethics of selling to China while knowing that it is an oppressive authoritarian government. Chris expressed some discomfort but then he explained that ethics are outweighed by financials. This was surely the viewpoint that guided management to this id--tic decision. Ethics, laws? Don't care. What soulless sc-m. I question the DEI drive when they knowingly take profit from genocidal regimes.

Bill and Dave wouldn't have tolerated this DEI baloney either.

Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard were men of high moral integrity. When they needed their employees to take a temporary 10% pay cut, they also rewarded them with a “nine day fortnight” giving an extra day off every other week.

It appears Seagate executives have neither the morality of Bill and Dave, nor any sense of shame.

The subject of this thread is “lack of morals”. The way the company has celebrated and promoted immorality directly applies.

Maybe the executives should focus more on not breaking the law, and less on filling out inboxes with rainbows and wokeism.

I come to work to work, not to join a cult that worships sinfulness.

I don’t care what it takes to end DEI, as long as it gets ended.

DEI drive is now replaced by DIE drive, per Huawei punishments.

The CFO said the following in a meeting I was in “we are not an American company, we are Irish. US laws don’t apply to us, we have to find a way to keep shipping to Huawei”.

Parallel Universe Dave:
That's for tax reasons only, you dummy! Not for exporting sh-t.

Well, America is no angel and probably no less ev-l than China. But I don’t give an eff to the politics. All I know is that I have to pay for the mistakes of some id—ts who decided to break the export control rules of the US.

100% this. It's only about the money.

At the same time we help China build huge data centers we have this separate division selling to our NSA https://www.seagategov.com/
