Good summary and matches up from my experience in run particularly on BAE - the Network Architects & Engineers are great guys, competent and generally helpful
Helen Rimmer is a damn good lead and I've rarely ever seen her shy away from helping with anything, provided it's not a BS ask
If you compare Networks to say ITO (which I think Networks is technically part of but functionally separate from Hosting & DB Infra) most of the former seem to be on fairly good pay whereas a significant chunk of the latter are on horrendous pay. Part of this is that the current network guys have come from AT&T with decent pay whereas a significant chunk of ITO are ex-entry level / juniors who've been promoted into 2nd and 3rd line roles with minimal financial incentive except that they get on call (which from what I hear is being stopped as a cost cutting measure) otherwise being on a salary of <£30k (usually mid-low 20s)
Same applies for Modern Workplace and service management. The UK MIM team are another of salaries. I remember being told by one of the MIMs they were only on £19.5k a year and another who was on less than £25k whereas the new MIMs recruited from BAE came in at about £40k - 50k. People who get promoted / given additional work don't get any financial incentive to do so which is why you have juniors being dumped into account management to face off against an angry client.
I think the biggest problem with networks is that some seem to get leeway in saying no whereas if someone from ITO, Workplace, MIM / SDMs etc said no they get a kicking
