Thread regarding Seagate Technology Inc. layoffs

Don't wait to be laid off

The longer you wait, the fewer jobs will be available. Not to mention, if you wait to be laid off, you'll have to compete with your former coworkers for the few available open positions. My opinion is that every one of us should take our fate into our own hands and start looking right away. I did, and as soon as I land a new job, I'm gone.

As someone who got hit in 2019, even though I was able to turn it around quickly enough to keep like 75% of my package, it's way better for your mental health to leave on your own terms in your own time.

My manager, who was also let go at the same time, took almost a year to get a new gig.

Rumors are circulating. I’ve heard pay cut, LCO closing, FRC closing, 25% cut, etc. All I know is where there is smoke, there is fire.

Easy to say if you've been with the company for a short time. IF the severance package stays the same long term employees aren't going anywhere without a big check.

Wait for your severance. Why do Seagate a favor by leaving.

True, unless you qualify for a huge package perhaps.
