nonsensical statements by Management

In the last two tech all hangs, I heard statements from Rogers Directs like

"People should work in Fidelity for all great tech work and not Google, Amazon"

"Why are people joining other places for a pay hikes, and not having a great career here" (easy for a overpaid executive to say)

I am all for keeping high goals, and I understand that people in the Management roles have to say Nonsensical bullsh-t in Forums; but do these people realize how stupid they sound when they say such things. It's like they are totally out of sync and disconnected from reality. We are not even operating as tech company, the pay is below average, and culture favours non Engineers (sl, cl) more. Are these people really so disillusioned, or is that to Impress Roger, or do they think associates are fools. Surely being so senior, they should have some wisdom that they should speak somewhat believable nonsense.

Yet you still stay at Fid and just come here and whine. Why?

more than half of leap leaves the company within two years. low pay in the market for swe and return to office when team is distributed. Bad leadership. Disregarding associate survery results. Glad I left.

I won’t go into the absolute chaotic mess the org is that I’m in. All I will say is that the only conclusion I can draw from the verbatims and meetings we see with upper mngt is that they think associates are stupid and believe that those associates should be insanely thankful for the roles they have. It’s like a deity complex. They have no inclination to learn about the negative impacts their bad business decisions have on associates. When yet another great teammate leaves for another role (either laterally or down a pay grade), they chant ‘Career Vitality!!’. When it’s so obvious people have reached their breaking point and will settle for a paycut to leave this group. I don’t know if it will ever improve. Sorry to be so negative, hopefully others have it a lot better.

Well said. Agree on all points made.

I left for a huge pay raise a few months ago, it was a 40% pay raise. It's easy to be blindsighted by their narrative to trying to keep you forever knowing the pay is so so. Fidelity is not the only shop in town with good benefits, let's leave it at that.
