Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

From everything I’ve seen and friends in high places, including groups, like HR and employee comps that you would’ve thought were prepared for this, and had some inkling. This is completely true. This is the thought of a disconnected leader, who doesn’t use the very tools that he sure don’t allow his employees to work together, even though they’ve been doing it in returning record results.

I think you’re right. It appears the VP’s are still trying to figure out the middle ground of ‘‘I implemented the policy, yet I didn’t completely decimate my workforce in the process”.

Just a bunch of yes people thinking they’ll get extra credit for going in daily. That’s all it is. Stockholm syndrome is what it’s called. They are dead people walking and deep down they know it. I feel for them, but heck with that. The axe is going to fall regardless. They would be better served getting that resume ready and networking to find an external role.

Makes no sense. Are they not using the reservation system there? Also why would anyone stand vs going back home?

state labor boards should learn about the employer not providing workers with what the need to do their jobs - like a place to sit instead of standing with their laptops in their hands

There's a lot of knowledge that has been amassed over the decades by some top talent that didn't aspire to rise up to a national role but were recruited anyway because of their skills and leadership. They've raised a family, paid off a mortgage, etc. and retirement is on the horizon. These people (yes, they are people) aren't going to up and relocate on their dime in the twilight years to a place where there are no ties and no guarantees of being safe from surplus. It makes more financial sense to stay put and go work at a grocery store for 5 years until eligible for Medicare.
