So let me get this straight. You think we should keep them?
'No we should not. "Management" should have done their jobs the last several years, evaluated and trimmed low performers. The trimming should have been strategic and focused. This is not happened for over a decade.'
The company has always been 'trimming' people for decades. It's never strategic or focused. Sometimes managers did not have a say on who's getting cut, like when it's based solely on work location or an order to let contractors go to meet some numbers. When the managers got to pick, they usually kept their favorite mediocre yes men. It's an opportunity for them to get rid of potential threat and those they disliked - 'unneeded workers and/or under-performers' from a sycophant's view. A good company don't just get rid of 'un-needed' workers. They re-train workers with new skills, or transfer them or other jobs that had higher demand or fit their current skills better.

Now instead of this we have "leadership" using a very large broom to sweep away everyone and anyone who is a cost to get the 2 billion cost savings per year, regardless of skills and contributions. It's not personal, it's just Randell and Stankey's failures.

There is no worse underperformer than John Stankey himself. The buck stops in his spacious office. He and Stephenson hold the responsibility for buying companies they didn't have a clue how to run. It was they that underperformed. They ran up well over 100 billion in debt when money was cheap. Now interest rates are high. No matter how much his sycophants defend him and try to deflect blame, it is his fault the company is failing. No one else. No underperformer in the history of the company comes close to underperforming Stankey.

ceo salary should be based on the overall success of ATT and right now it is not looking good.
Anyone ever wonder if they are cutting like they are to sell us off? They already sold off the other parts of the company and continue to sell off assets. All to make the balance sheet look better. I’m sure Google would be interested because they couldn’t get their own pipe going.

Stankey is the primary reason why AT&T needs saving in the first place. A decision should have been made years ago, by the board, to get rid of him, and it should have been an easy one to make.
