From what I have seen it looks like employee referral is the most common way to get in, I'm sure its possible to get in by just applying but probably less likely

Nepotism is rampant. Don’t even bother applying if you aren’t friends with the hiring manager or their boss. Qualified internal candidates go to back of the line over external ones with connections.
Friends and family first.
All others, go to the back of the line.
SPIRIT values, y’all!
Executive referrals = obligatory interviews = favors that must be repaid = HR selections that move forward unquestioned = some new hires that no one outside the inner circle understands
