Thread regarding Seagate Technology Inc. layoffs

It's infuriating, when you stop and think about it

Those of us who possess the invaluable expertise and know-how to effectively manage and run things are shamefully undervalued and underpaid. At the same time, those clueless souls who come to us for help, including so-called managers, are raking in hefty salaries without a shred of genuine understanding or knowledge. And then they wonder why people are walking away.

I just wish those managers would stay in their own group. They keep trying to manage me, because their own reports are ignoring them. I'm much too busy trying to ignore my own rudderless manager and need to distract them with cat toys.

A lot of Seagate Managers good at nothing but empty talking... talking something other people in meeting do not understanding...

I saw it time and time again in my 30+ yrs service. Things are getting apparently much worse in the last decade.

Must be a bunch of Management types posting on this thread. Seagate has a long history of laying off workers while leaving a management almost untouched. This last round at NRM has been a perfect example of getting closer to 1:1 management. Once we get to just having managers maybe people will stop screwing things up and we can get back to profitability. Nope not going to happen.

I believe experienced people are great at running things.
Knows what does not work.
For new thing, need to try the old thing 10x times and discover a better way. Otherwise one just ships current product. So one needs the new guy to try something "stupid" and prove that there is a better way.
Do you believe you want to try out same thing another 10 years? If not, better hire a fresh person who knows nothing.

If you are so valuable, go somewhere that values you.
