Thread regarding Morgan Stanley layoffs

You should have expected this

When it comes to work, I'm always ready for the worst thing that could happen. I don't want to be in a position where something surprises me. When the next round of cuts hits, I won't feel as crushed as my old team did. I'll go with the flow and accept whatever deal they give me. My money's sorted, so when my turn comes, I won't stress about finding a job for at least six months.

If you can make it on your own, they are jealous. It is an offense to people user managers. Some inferior people want to use and shred capable people.

Who would give a thumbs down to the post from the person with 32 years experience and being able to make it on his own ? whomever it is must be upper management who doesn’t want anyone to succeed Why wouldn’t you be happy for someone else ? that right there goes to show that management does not want you to succeed. They want you to be beholden to the firm

Absolutely good points! The hard to do part is "always be prepared" and watch out for yourself. The job responsibility eats away all your energy. Incapable managers tend to have a desire to watch your hours /minutes to compensate for their incompetence. The daily tasks can be mundane and yet demanding or skills damaging, if you are not on a good team or project. Working with some unqualified people can also wipe out your brain.

I also was prepared as instead of a phone call to tell me my raise, She set up a zoom for 30 minutes. I knew exactly what the call was going to be about.

Worked at competitor for 32 years. I have been saving money entire time in case something like this happens. when they laid me off in January I was happy and first word out of mouth was great Second question was how much severance. Third question was assume today is my last day. She told me it was tmr and I asked why not today. I told her she did me a favor her and then I asked her if she really thought I was gonna be upset. I I’m sure it disarmed my manager, as she asked others I worked with afterwards how I was and everybody said she’s great even if you are upset don’t give them the satisfaction of showing it I was on zoom so I made sure I had a big smile the entire time. I retired early at 58. It was a thing of beauty. I wish it was taped. The call was supposed to be 30 minutes, but she quick got off after 10 as she didn’t know what to say.
