After Some Time Spend Job Searching

Here are some pointers from me... Take it for what's worth:

  • Have a support system and be frank with them - Tell them how you are feeling, and ask for help. It can be cathartic to talk about your feelings, and your support system can offer you emotional and practical support.
  • (Try to) Eat healthy and exercise regularly. Eating healthy and exercising can help you feel better physically and mentally. Make sure to eat plenty of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, and get at least 30 minutes of exercise most days of the week.
  • Get enough sleep. This is a must. Sleep is essential for physical and mental health. Aim for 7-8 hours of sleep each night. Less than 7 hours of sleep will mess you up. Do not have your cell phone next to your bed.
  • Create a reasonable interview interview prep schedule. Don't try to cram too much into too short a time frame. Set aside a few hours each day to practice your interviewing skills and update your resume.
  • Talk to your support system regularly. A lot. Let your support system know how you are doing, and ask for their help and encouragement. They can offer you emotional and practical support as you search for a new job.
  • Take some time for yourself. It's okay to feel sad, angry, or frustrated after losing your job. Allow yourself some time to grieve, but don't let it consume you.
  • Update your resume and start networking. Once you've had some time to process your emotions, start updating your resume and networking with people in your field.
  • Don't give up. The job search can be tough, but don't give up. Keep applying for jobs, and eventually you will find the right one for you.
