Executive leadership has pulled reports of badge swipes (of non telecommuters) to identify employees who are out of compliance. Managers then are required to have documented coaching with the employee & outline the assigned in office days.
What is the reason for running reports and micromanagement now? Is there any end in sight for this hard push for at least 3 days in office?
To the last poster. I thinks it's less to do with being upset with being tracked, and more to do with frustration that this is where leadership is focusing their efforts. I think most people would agree there are more pressing concerns facing the business. For example, the technology we use on a daily basis lags far behind what most of our competitors use. We are still using major systems which were developed in the 1980s, and this is going to hurt our ability to compete in the not so distant future. That being said...anyone who has been here long enough should really not be surprised by this.
In my group we have always followed the three days in office rule. I am perplexed why people are upset they are being tracked. If they followed the policy in the first place no one would be enforcing anything. I don’t like to think people are tracked so closely but I am not naive. Why do people think it’s wrong that the company leaders are reinforcing what they asked people to do on the first place? Because they’re not filling the rules? Because they got caught?
My thought is that this is a good way to push out some higher tenured people without having to lay them off. With the intense scrutiny around the budget this year, they're going to cut costs by any means that present themselves. But if they still can't meet the budget expectations, don't be surprised if we do see some level of reduction in workforce toward the end of the year. As far as I know, nothing there is official, this is more of a "don't be surprised either way" type of feeling.
Feels like they are preparing for something. Two emails today that made it clear the policy is 3 days. If any sort of economic collapse wouldn’t be surprised is this is what they use
No end in sight for three days in the office. It has always been at least 3 days in the office, well before Covid. HCSC has lots of $$$ real estate and needs to
at least partially fill the buildings by requiring someone to be there.
If I needed to layoff employees without calling it a layoff this might be an idea.
