I’m in California, my union has not been offered the isp package. I literally emailed HR to let them know I’m very interested in taking the package. If there aren’t enough takers in the CWA union, maybe they’ll offer it to IBEW??

I was finally offered EISP on October 2. The offer did comeback around!! It’s now, November 22, and am waiting till, December 1st for final check! I think I was offered the option to leave because I had emailed HR about my desire to receive the offer. I’ll just have to live within my means and maybe pickup some side work or a part time job. Anyway, I got was I had been hoping for.
All the best to everyone!!

Legally in California it’s pretty impossible.

Ohh, trust us, the quality shows. That's what unions are for. Keeping useless weight forcibly held to the company.

"the union doesn't like the language" hahahaha, like they're protecting the employees. there may be a "no lay-off clause" per the union, but that's not to say the company after presenting an ISP and not enough takers, won't start laying off. The union agreed to that in the 94 layoff

It’s highly unlikely they will “layoff”. Legally in California it’s pretty impossible. They’d have to declare a surplus. In which case they couldn’t backfill with contractors. More realistically, they will do a realignment. Which in many cases would be enough to force people to quit. The “realignment” areas the union agreed to is essentially all parts of California. Imagine telling a tech that works in Santa Barbara they will be reporting to San Bernardino or Pomona. That would be a mass exodus.

That is not correct. District 9 sent out an email from the president stating they understand most of us would love to go. However, the union doesn’t like the language so they will not present it to us. What does that mean? Basically, the union knows they will lost to many people and won’t be able to collect the dues they are already overstretched on from spending all our money. It’s not only the company that tries to fu-k us. The union may be even worse. It’s all about protecting their lazy as--s.

Ok they didn't say only contractors. ? was why are they part of the 1500, they are not employees. Does not give a true number as to actual employees affected.

As this continues to develop, a large amount of top level management seems to be impacted as well. GTM/Marketing/PM roles all being consolidated or some entire departments being cut. NOT just contractors

So why are contractors part of a 1500 head count reduction?
Traditionally they are just let go.
They are NOT employees. Can someone explain.

Agreed Guys get paid to watch Netflix
I'm a manager that was let go years ago but came up from the ranks, even a union steward. The newer unimpressive boot lickers Lm,Gm and Directors don't have a clue when a paper cable losses pressure in a manhole and an entire exchange goes down. Just wait,I'll bring the popcorn and beer, you bring the lawn chairs

I think Will (the guy bashing techs) may just be 1st or 2nd level management.

Look dummy, how do you think copper/fiber gets spliced? Drops hung? Inside wiring, holes drilled in houses, modems set up, jumpers in co ran, bridge taps removed, loads removed, and everything else that entails a man’s work? From 100 degree to -30 techs are out in it. Boots on the ground, the guys who actually take all the pieces and put them together to give the customer what they want. Men, not little boys or women sitting at home watching Netflix while pretending to work and crying like you, that other people make too much money.

Fact ofthe matter is, they can automate nearly all the work from home tasks you act like you do. They can have people talk to a robot instead of the id--ts in call centers who try to diagnose a problem, but inevitably sc--w more up and cause more trouble than they help. A line can test fault station, 300 ohm short and they wanna send a new modem, and tell the customer no, problem is outside so you don’t need to be there. 😂 Or, take credentials out of a modem, or try to force credentials on dhcp, especially with FWB. We’re the problem solvers, and one of the very few depts that are still needed, and that can never be automated. If you think you deserve more money, go learn something a computer isn’t capable of doing.

Frontier has had a history of crapping on employees. I was asked to oversee a project that involved government grants for broadband expansion. When I called out by reporting mis-appropreation of funds to a contractor which was falsely reported back to state I was told to let it go or lose my job. Well I was let go. But I can sleep at night. Now I am working with the state AG to bring indictments to both current and past employees and a civil lawsuit for wrongful termination. Stay tooned!

Correct 2016 Frontier let good quality people craft and management go. On the management side boot lickers and bu-t kissers remained . Craft was seniority thank god. No one off the street wants to work here. To toxic due to management. Now look at what we are left with. Totally wrong statement Jeffrey

Wasn’t it on one of the last “Listen Live” time wastes that Nick and company said they weren’t afraid of quality employees leaving the company because there are people lining up to work here? That probably should have told us everything we needed to know. We keep losing the “cream of the crop” while sh!t climbs to the top. Well played.

Heard hourly/union pkg offered in WV. Sure there are other offers rolling in...more to come each day. Company only cares about hiring and retaining third party contractors for all hourly inside plant jobs. Yes, they've had plenty of outside contractors too, but super high concentration of off-shore inside plant workers, as well as numerous mainland US third-party contractors too. Don't be fooled! Take the pkg if offered or later weep that you wish you had! Frontier wants to bust all unions, and say what you want about unions, but the union employees are the decades-long, high-quality experienced workers this Company needs to survive long-term. Contractors couldn't care less whether the Company survives. The Company doesn't see it that way. They'll soon learn their mistake once they've ditched all the highly experienced folks but by then it will be too late. Good luck Frontier. Anyone offered a pkg, in any region, please post your region, the job/office affected and the specifics of what Frontier is offering so we can keep up between the different regions as the offers come in. As they lead themselves into their early grave, we need to apply as much pressure as we can. It's sad, but it's reality and we will all survive just fine elsewhere.

This decision was either intentionally mixed so that you can't be promised to be saved via doing a good job (terrible leadership) or so they can't be blamed for who gets let go.

Super interesting that no one knows the criteria for why certain people were chosen, except that it wasn’t based on performance. If excellent performance is not a measure, WTH are we keeping?

Exemplary employee for 15 years, but when we were asked to begin training vendors in the Philippines we knew the axe was swinging; it fell on 200 of us in 2021. I found myself almost 60 years old without a job. When I think of the years we did without increases (because the company was struggling to recover from bankruptcy) and dealt with complete system overhauls every time we hired a new CEO, I could kick myself.

I am in awe of decisions made every time there is a layoff here. While I have been fortunate to come out of this unscathed, I have seen where some very low quality workers are kept, while some very high quality employees are let go . It is very naive of me to think that leadership will make good decisions about employees.

Not just contractors are getting hit with this RIF. AE's SEs and all support staff for these groups have been involved so far. I was part of this yesterday. They offered severance and gave most staff until June 9th. On a personal note, Frontier is one of the most disorganized companies I have ever worked for. After 15 years in the Telco industry, Frontier has by far the worse customer service, training network/pipeline for new hires and sales commission structure I have ever seen. They have done many an favor by forcing them to find something else. Myself included.

fGTR lackeys. If you have not invested and saved by this point of your career don’t berate those that took a wash on this illegal Obama FCC fiasco since SPINCO. You should have retired by now with ample earnings. Dave Ramsey is your new soul. Good riddance to FYBR/FOOBAR the April Fools day joke of a telecom. Quit your whining. You should have planned.

Old news. Maybe talk about the millions that were just paid out while the company stock continues its downward trend and the company announces layoffs. More current and relevant.

Frontier sucked from day one. Just retired and happy for it.

For those who back stabbed employees to get ahead I hope your days are done. Frontier let it happen for all the company to see.

Anyone want to comment on the MILLIONS that was paid out to a select number of top executives (approximately 8) right before Frontier filed for bankruptcy!!! Yes, that’s correct… they were paid Millions one month before Frontier filed for bankruptcy. Very suspicious!
