ATT group health care non-subsidized rate vs. marketplace?

Hi,

I see thru the ACA online exchange, average rate for a 50 year old for health coverage is $655 month, and 60 year old is $995 a month. Couples are double that rate.

Anyone know what the unsubsidized AT&T heathcare rates are for a individual or couple? Significantly higher than the marketplace rates or lower?

I have friends who have retired outside of T and are getting their healthcare throug the marketplace and it is good insurance at fairly reasonable rates for Eye and Medical. Wy would anyone pay $900.00 per person or $1700.00 for a couple for T subsidized benefits? T's health plans are not great. Can someone explain why someone would pay for T's subsidized benefits which are higher when one can go through marketplace much cheaper?

Found it myself. I know each of us are in a different situation, will post what i found in case helps anyone.

T ins coverage in retirement rates are 900 individual, 1700 for couple.

ACA is 650 individual 1300 couple for a 50 year old, but at 60 the rates average 1000 ind and 2000 couple.

So maybe ATT insurance would be a better choice in late 50's until medicare kicks in.

I do also wonder if the law can change and it would be good to have ATT plan as a backup to the market exchange if you had existing health issues.

I am at 22.5 years so just wanted details if it did anything to make it to 25.

I would look at my W2 form from last year and make a guess from that. The last year I worked at AT&T, it was showing in box 12b. That amount wouldn't reflect the deductibles and out-of-pockets which you would have to consider when comparing the plan to plans on the ACA.

It might also show on your statement when you selected your plan during annual enrollment. I seem to remember seeing that when I was selecting.

WHO CARES!
We are in the fight of our lives right now. We will probably be fighting for healthcare, any kind of healthcare, in November.
