I'm going to assume there'll be no layoffs tomorrow since both Monday and Friday are usually not layoffs days. What I am wondering, though, is whether that means that the layoffs will continue next week? If that's true, I'm not looking forward to another sleepless weekend.

I moved to Silicon Valley in 1977. Many companies used to lay off people at quitting time on Fridays ( to avoid potential violence or vandalism). Those laid off would have the weekend to cool off. Layoffs used to come as a complete surprise and not known or suspected weeks in advance.
Any day of week can be a layoff day. There were layoffs on Friday in 2018.
I've heard at least a couple of people in Amsterdam have been RIFed today. Never seen it done on a Friday before.
In 2020 my "good bye" call from my boss came at 8 AM on a Monday. Just before he called my network connection stopped working. It was the middle of June. My official termination came 60 days later in August.

We find it's always better to fire people on a Friday. Studies have statistically shown that there's less chance of an incident if you do it at the end of the week.
Don’t worry, if it happens it happens. Nothing we can do.
Confirmed...It will be Monday 22nd, 8am PST/EST.
30 days from the last pay period of the month. This is the normal rule.
I believe layoffs are usually on Mondays.
