Thread regarding Lumen Technologies layoffs

Lawsuit against Lumen for field techs

Were you a field tech anytime between June 2019 and June 2022? If you were, you know they took away oncall pay during that time. There is a class action lawsuit for this unlawful practice. If you would like to sign on please send an email to Lumenlawsuit@outlook.com
This lawsuit was initiated by a former Lumen field tech. The more folks that sign on to the suit gives us more bargaining power. Provide a name, good email address and phone number in the email. The lawyer leading the suit will contact you.

This is genuine. I am a former field tech that worked in Florida. I have already been involved in a meeting with the class lawyer and Lumen lawyers concerning this matter. Let’s make Lumen pay for their illegal oncall practices during that time.

Not true! Our union contract states very clearly, if we are on standby, we get paid.
No pay, no standby. That simple in our union. We got our pay put back in place because we would not answer & would not sign any attempted write up unless an attorney was present. Therefore, after the first attempt & up requesting an attorney on site when signed, they backed off & left us alone.

So many saying “just don’t answer your phone”, well it must be nice. Currently on call, and I mean on-site on call with no pay for either being on call or the time spent away from home. You will say well that’s illegal. Yes I believe the same but this needs to be rectified soon. But UM all have their heads in a book obeying their new leader, hoping they make the cut coach.

This lawsuit will take both represented and non-represented technicians. It was started by a national tech that’s not union.

Send your info to the email in the original post and your information will be given to the law firm representing us.

Not sure but this sounds like a field ops tech from National. Yes they took away on call several times in the last 25 years. It’s not fair and YES if you don’t answer your phone you will be reprimanded. Not legal at all but they keep you job scared 365 days a year. Engineers get no on call or overtime, but let them miss a damage call out. You will be terminated, eventually!

The union rule does not state that Lumen has to provide standby.
It only says, the seniority has the choice on the matter.
Lumen took away the standby 4 years in Washington State. No one cares. We don't answer our phones.

So not sure what the previous guy was thinking. Definitely in the contract. $25 for volunteers.
This might have some possibility. I’m in!

On call is not on the contract.
You're not privileged to make it as your compensation. Go get a 2nd job if you need more.

I was told by upper managment that it was in employee expectations documentation. It's not! They never tell the truth.

That wasn’t an option to not answer the phone without repercussions. If you don’t want to join in then that’s fine.

No company owes you standby pay.
You don't answer your phone. Not a big deal.
