Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

time to unionize technical support ISG!!!!!!!!

i never thought i would think or say this, ive always hated unions and thought they were not needed and an abuse of us workers. but after the last year and the way the support teams are being treated, i don't think there is any other option for us except to get together so we can bargain as one force instead of us being picked off one by one. we had a WFR and now are asked to cover the work of those people.. but no one has been compensated for that additional work load. we have women making less than men for the exact same job. the company is telling us where we can and cant move. only way to get promoted is to go from team to team. we keep having policy changes and new work required of us with no say in the matter or opportunity to give feed back that is actually listed to. we now have to return to the office even though we have been doing more work than ever working from home.. Michel dell even said a few months ago that "other companies where doing it wrong" the senior leaders get raises and bonuses while we are left just barely getting by and in fear of our jobs. its simply not right and we are being taken advantage of ... we need to unionize. any one know a good way to start going about it? ive read a few things but not sure how to proceed.

Envy much? GPT will do your job and spell correctly at the same time.

Have fun driving Ubers!!! There are a million monkeys out there who will take your job. Plus I think GPT could do better support than most of the Dell teams.

Sounds wonderful but anyone who signs the petition for the NLRB (to demonstrate the 30%) will be on the po-p list for sure

To start the process, you must file an election petition with your local NLRB office. Along with the petition, you will need to show that at least 30% of the employees support your election petition, which is usually done with authorization cards or a petition signed by your co-workers.

its nice to know others are feeling the same, just not sure how to go about it. as soon as you mention union at work to any one you will have a target on your back. even thought its not agenst the law to unionize dell will do everything in its power to stop you

Something is up, feels like all of these changes are to force us to quit without them having to do it and look bad in the news.

I would support a union, others here would as well. Currently remote in vegas

I hope it works. Employees are treated worse and worse every year while the top gets richer and richer. Latest national income gap metrics are disgusting.
This country was built on strong unions and workers rights so I hope we see more unions in tech.

I'm in Round Rock ISG team been with dell 6 years. yes and yes!! we need a union.. we are treated like cr-p no one listens, raises are a joke if not an insult. i have women on my team that are payed less then the men but are doing the same job if not better. policies change so often its hard to keep it all straight. we see senior managers getting new house and boats, second houses while we are just getting buy. its insane that a leader gets a bonus and raise and they did a WFR.. that money should have gone to save peoples jobs.

I'm for it.. i would vote to unionize if we held a vote today, i know many others would as well not just here but most of the other amer sights.

draper Utah ISG team member here.. been with emc/dell for 10 + years.. things are not the same people are treated like trash. leaders are looking for every little thing to write people up or put them n a pip. numbers and reports matter more than taking care of the customer.. its crazy that our leaders focus more on "did you check that check box" are you logged in to lighting?, is your status correct? have you updated the profile? is the NCC correct?... those are all tools to take care of the customer not to replace customer service.. that's been lost and it does not to replace the head on peoples shoulders. feels like we are not trusted to do what's right anymore.... its more of a focus on numbers than on customers. I'm all for a union.. and from being in Utah and very conservative , that's saying something.. the word union is a swear word for most people.. if it would help things, I'm all for it.

something needs to change thats for sure. Boudreau, Mooney, Gobeli, are making decisions and policy changes that are causing us on the front line so much pain. the managers and directors are stuck and have no authority to improve things. we know they are trying to save pennies and make more for the company but forcing people back to the office when we have done everything better than before and focusing on numbers instead of people. this is not the dell i started with. the idea of a union for tech support has strong appeal to me. i would like to see a union fight for better raises including cost of living and benefits that are actually useful. the tell dell survey is a joke we can give all the feed back in the world but if they don't actually understand and read it than its of no use. the comment sections of the survey stop at 1000 character almost like they don't want to hear what you have to say.

I've actually thought alot about this as well and wondered if this is how we can get more respect and better conditions.. I'm in ISG work out of OKC about 25 min from the office. i have friends in hopt and Utah that feel the same its not just one person having a bad day. alot of us feel like we are being treated less and less like people and more like numbers on a spread sheet. i know dell hates the word union and will do any thing it can to stop the idea of one but i do think the discussion should be had. how to do that now that so many of us are working from home is hard. who can you trust to not rat you out for even talking about it. i know managers have a lawyer training that covers unions and that if they hear or get word of it they are to e-mail a list who will investigate.
