Just got laid off by AMD. Last "official" day with the company is June 16th. Severence package 6 weeks.

Oh yes! But not just any kind of “boys club” At least in Markham you can see a very traditional, close-minded, family oriented workforce. So if you are part of the LGBTQ community do not expect any support given the heavy boomers and Asian presence. Also, beware of clueless and very selfish managers in RTG looking only for ways to keep their position and project the hardworking and indispensable image with lots of useless emails. These friendly-looking managers keep trying to find new ways to take more days off conveniently paired with the typical Monday or Friday sick days. Opportunities to grow are only limited to those who end up doing part of the manager’s job, becoming like an assistant that helps the manager get more free time.
I don't think AMD is a boy's club. I've worked there a long time, am a lady.
In another post it says there were 200 marketing people let go. Does anyone know if that is the real number? Are there more layoffs coming soon?
Regarding boys club… absolutely. I am a woman having worked in tech a long time. My recent experience at AMD was astonishing. I’m used to being the only woman around but never before has everything I say been so totally disregarded and rebuked. You have to be aggressive to survive. I’m thankful to hear someone besides me say something about it. Check the LinkedIn picture from last years leadership forum… vps and above. At least 100 people. Can you count 10 women?
What are the terms of the severance package? 6 weeks sounds terrible.

Can confirm. Laid off as well this week while in the middle of 2 big projects after they announced there wasn’t going to be any lay offs. Inefficient and extremely biased managers only helping their “countrymen” by adding more assistant positions and fewer engineers per team. RTG didn’t perform well recently and now they are hiring lots of Co-Ops to reduce cost while many talented experts in the company have been leaving for better opportunities. Failing managers get to stay.
I’ve hear there were a lot of women let go. Haven’t been able to confirm but I wouldn’t doubt it. Besides Lisa, AMD is famous for putting a few token women in spots but in reality running a boys club. I was let go and am a g-y man. Clearly I didn’t meet the standard. Maybe AMD needs to be taught a legal lesson. Respond here if any more of you think bias may have contributed to you being let go.

Can confirm, was laid off as well yesterday. I know my performance wasn’t up to par for the team, but my review was pretty average.
There are openings on some teams. To my knowledge, there is no hiring freeze. So, it's plausible you can find another job internally.

My team lead got laid off today, and myself and others on my team are being relocated to another team. Seems like some teams are being trimmed/reconsolidated due to costs.
Current employee at AMD and didn't hear about any layoffs today at all.
