The only person effected by the results is your direct manager. Upper management believes that if the results are bad then your manager is not messaging properly.

Be honest, but word it professionally and factually. Also remember that neutral answers don’t count…

1-6 counts as a detractor, 7-8 is neutral, 9-10 is positive
The neutrals aren’t counted, and the NPS scores are based on the number of detractors vs supporters

Play the game as a team. If the whole team is negative, then it is sign they are not engaged=first to fire

It used to be a quantitative test with numbers 1 through 10 to gauge employee satisfaction. Now its just a finger in the air to check the direction the wind is blowing.

It is 100% anonymous BUT with all the text based answers either skip those or be vague. Then it’s best of both worlds. You’re not on the naughty list of those who didn’t take it, but also not traceable back to you for individual results.

good point...like the old adage...if you have nothing good to say, say nothing at all. Do you get punished for that? I know they're always pushing for 100% participation, but if you don't, is that like giving a bad response. It does seem like they want 100% participation as they know people will lie and it looks better for them. If you say nothing, does that put a monkey wrench in their plans.

Tell Dell is and was never anonymous. My feedback is always consistent with what I am telling my manager during our 1-2-1's and I am not concerned that it will be traced back to me. Being honest might not be good for your career in Dell or any other corporation, but it keeps you sane. A$$ kissing won't.

Is Tell Dell truly anonymous? Or do they know who submitted feedback?

If I dont answer is it noticed?
Complete waste of time IMO.
If I answer honestly I get canned.
If I dont its not honest.
I have never not answered but think I may give a miss this year.

I usually just play the game but last year I decided to be honest because my manager was so bad that half of our team quit.

The result? Super low scores that the company did nothing about. Manager started being noticeably extra toxic to me and actively tried to push me off to different teams. More people on our team quit and this garbage manager got “punished” with a promotion. Life at Dell is hilarious but in a bad way.

I am not worried in the slightest about my manager knowing. I want them to know.

Played the game for years until I realized my job was destroying my mental health and I want to leave under any circumstances.
But really Tell Dell is a joke, managers just use it to stroke their ego when it’s good and do nothing when it isn’t.
Last time my manager scored so low they literally refused to show us the results and then moved on like nothing happened. Most of the problems at the company are caused by leaders high up enough that they’re immune to these results anyway.

How are you planning it? I don't think you can engineer a WFR in a few months if there are no WFR coming.

The impact of Tell Dell means most to your immediate manager. The higher up the food chain, the less it matters. By the time it gets to JC, he couldn’t care less.

If your manager is a good guy and there’s helpful feedback you can give, do that. If there isn’t, just fake it like the rest of us until you get another job.

It really depends on your long term plan.
I plan on leaving in the coming months as Dell has affected my mental health so a WFR offer would be a blessing.
