Thread regarding Sabre Holdings layoffs

Manager was let go and didn’t bother to check on “his” team afterwards

Did anyone else run into this? He wasn’t a good manager, but even I was surprised that he would be this cowardly.

He did more harm than good in his tenure here. I knew he’d be gone, but he didn’t care enough to check on those that reported to him.

No, this manager wasn’t locked out. I’m the one that communicated with him using Sabre channels…. He just didn’t care enough to check on the team. In hindsight, I shouldn’t be surprised.

Most times when you are let go, the company remotely wipes your mobile and locks your computer access. It could very well be the case with this manager.

They want infighting to distract you about layoffs.

Being human, a simple "How are you feeling?" cannot be forbidden. However, if the manager is also impacted, please understand he or she is equally shocked and will need time to neutralize three emotion. This is when the next higher level manager who is staying should have stepped in to help comfort those staying as well as leaving

I don’t think that’s true. Our Director reached out to everyone affected.

You peeps saying mangers were not allow to reach out to impacted employees don’t know what ur talking about… The letter said otherwise. SSTFU if u don’t know what ur talking about.

That’s weird, but this manager didn’t even reach out to the unaffected (very few) employees.

Unsure all the details but direct managers have been told not to reach out to the affected employees that were part of the reduction. I’m sure because their last day is tomorrow and because of the confusion around how/why. Legalities and all that. Most managers and directors had nothing to do with who was chosen either.

wait, what? managers aren't allowed to reach out to their team members affected? surely though a simple 'goodbye and good luck' to everyone would be allowed, no? besides what will they do to him, fire him?

Managers aren’t “allowed” to reach out to affected team members. So manager is not as horrible as you have painted

What we’re you expecting? He was as blindsided as you. He has a life & bills & all the same issues as you. What would you have preferred?

When I was let go My Re-ORG anointed manager had set up a meeting for that afternoon.

As per him he was pulled into another meeting around the same time, so he cancelled the one with me. I went home anxious.

Next morning he sent me an email that I was terminated and that
I could collect my stuff and termination letter when I come to office. He said he was confident🤮 that with my talent & skills I should be in demand and wished me luck.

You wouldn’t expect a manager who is online the rest of the day to even check on the people he “managed”?

The guy dropped at 10 AM CST and left everybody else to fend for themselves. Maybe you’re a long time Sabre employee and are used to that, but I can’t respect that at all.

What's expected from him at this stage if he is let go? 🤔
