Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Got offered CPM in CCG. Did not take it. Now what?

Quiet a few folks in CCG got the CPM last Friday. I did not take it, inspite of my manager saying that our group is being shutdown. Will I be forced to take it later? Trying to see if other groups have open positions.

CCG is now forced to do involuntary cuts due to groups shutting down. I hope that package is the same they offered few weeks ago :-(

Once CCG took in Lisa Pearce and her ORG you should be ready to jump ship. Her entire carrer at Intel has been a flop. Her team's focus is geared to having fun over actually executing or meeting deliverables.

Why are you clinging to Intel? They clearly don't care about their employees, it is a stressful work environment, the company is doing poorly... The list goes on and on. There is life after Intel and it is good. The vast majority of people don't work for Intel and they are doing just fine. Give yourself a break and move on. Change is invigorating, you will like it.

Mistake. Little chance of internal hire with hundreds seeking what few jobs are open. Call HR asap today and let them know you want the deal.

No raises if you apply internally anyway, why not apply externally and get something better

Yes, you will be forced to take it later, with probably a smaller package than you are currently being offered. In 2016 ACT, those that did not take VSP in groups that were being shut down or significantly reduced got hit with an ISP just a couple months later. I advise you to take it and use whatever time you have left at Intel to look for external positions. Intel is going down hard, don't stay aboard a sinking ship, take the lifeboat you are being offered right now.

The previous post said it right. There's NO open positions internally. You need to wake up...and start looking for external positions before other Intel coworkers fall into the same situation like you. Good luck

They've changed the terminology, but not really anything else.

Previously, they would offer targeted voluntary separation packages (VSP) to a relatively large number of employees. The criteria for being targeted for a VSP varied. It could be job title, grade level, retirement eligibility, department, business group, etc. HR makes some estimate on the percentage of employees that will except VSPs. Then, if they don't meet their target headcount reduction (which they NEVER do), they will start handing out involuntary separation packages (ISP). The factors for being targeted for ISP are not the same as they are for being offered a VSP and they will include past performance and skillset. Strangely, their blatantly discriminatory practices that favor URMs in both hiring and performance evaluations are not used to retain URMs when handing out ISPs.

In the past, there have been multiple cases where the separation package included with an ISP was not as good as the package an employee was initially offered in a VSP. Examples I can think of are including only 1 week of pay per year of service instead of 1.5 weeks, and including only 6 months of COBRA instead of 12 months. This round, I would expect the VSP and ISP to be the same, though. Intel started out by offering only ISPs last November with some non-targeted voluntary packages that were identical.

Good luck to you.

If you do not accept, they may suprise you with a less juicy package having your last day at intel on it

Same here, I was doing vendor management and most of these vendors had their contract closed. Did not take CPM, knowing that other groups survive using vendors and will have positions open soon. Only a matter of time.
