NEW "Unlimited" Vacation policy limited to 15 days?

How do we all feel about the new limits to the "Unlimited Vacation"? Limited to 10 consecutive days with a 30 day pause before any more vacation days. On top of that you can only do 15 days a year until your boss and their boss need to approve any more?

Give accrued/banked vacation back at this point.

You are correct that your manager always had to approve any requested vacation time. The change is that, once you request and get approved the first 15 vacation days, your manager’s manager will now ALSO have to approve your future vacation requests. So, another layer of approval is required, once you go beyond 15 approved vacation days for the year.

Odd that this policy change came out right after we were told all employees needed to sign the mediation agreement.

I'm trying to figure out how this is a change. In fact, to my understanding we've always had to get manager approval even for the first 15 days! I don't see how we're supposed to take those 15 without manager approval in the first place... project completion is paramount; review and approval to ensure that delivery is not in jeopardy was always part of the process.
So... now we don't care about priorities when taking those first 15 days? I call BS. This is no change, just clarification for employees coming on from newly acquired groups (HMS etc).

A break of 30 days between a two week vacation does not seem unreasonable. They only said that after you have taken 15 days of vacation that you need to get an additional level of approval. That does not mean you will be denied. This policy has to do with Managers approving excessive vacation for employees without regard to the work that needs to be done. Some employees were taking advantage of this and taking excessive vacation. Rather than limit vacation for everyone this plan seems a fair resolution. If you have taken 5 weeks of vacation in the past and are a good employee that gets their work done you will almost always be granted the time off.

I had 5 weeks of vacation when the "unlimited" vacation originally started, what a farce! Now that it's capped at 15 days, its nothing but an insult.

Pretty obvious they don’t care about the employee. It’s all about money.

Don’t get caught in the trap. Get the fu-k out. This place is going down in a ball of flames.

They're trying to get people to leave of their own volition.

Another boost for morale. My people manager has never spoken to me. I'm sure his boss has his/her finger on the pulse of what's happening at my account.

Not sure what this means, want more clarification, but it does seem ridiculous.
