Hard Truth about HAMR

Here is the hard truth….I’ve been on the team. We are paid significant amounts of equity to retain us and to make progress. Unfortunately, we have to SHOW success. We are told that HAMR works, by our bosses, not the other way round.

The truth is not that simple, it works

  • it doesn’t work. There are many many many parameters that need to get to a stage of perfection for the cacophony to become a melody. What we have right now are a large number of musical instruments, they are all playing sounds, mostly on their own. When we take a small sample, significantly simplify the notes, run the output through a auto-tuner, with not all instruments playing; A melody comes out once in 500 attempts. That is HAMR !

It’s like, nuclear fusion. Yes it works, in theory, at CERN, in a particle accelerator. But no fusion reactors !

Sorry, call me a whistleblower. But someone just has to speak up.

Why would they do that? Because Dave is fighting for his job, and potentially losing

"It’s like, nuclear fusion. Yes it works, in theory"

Go outside and look up. It's call the sun and it's doing fusion all the time.

Theory? wtf

So the reason you think HAMR isn't going to work is because of some musical instruments being out of tune lol, clearly the HAMR team is failing because they have lost your musical brilliance. Clearly you must have been on the team else how could you give such deep technical insights.

I have no inside info on HAMR. But why has STX backed themselves into a corner by saying it will be a product in the June quarter if something isn't ready? Trying to scare WD (as WD tried to do w/ STX with MAMR)? Trying to move the stock? I mean, promising something so close and not delivering seems like a no win. Why would they do that?

STX SSDC now are mostly yesman. Not technical experts as those that are direct and speakout are show to the door.

The only opinion that really matters is the customers when they try to use the product. If they refuse to order it then the chair throwing begins.

@op+1 your thoughts on HAMR seem like they are relevant to pre 2021. I’m not going say much more than that personally. Would you care to state what plant/group you work/worked with? ATR HGM TBT?

Care to share why you are a “have been” on the team and not a “are” on the team? 😝🤣😂

That hamr piece can be written by anyone - even a competitor. Equity grants are not new. Cacophony, melody etc is all cr-p. Show us some more “meat on the bone” to trust your claim. What a boat load of cr-p you have just released into somewhat muddy waters.
