If you are remote and not located in Texas, you should seriously look into your legal options for suing USAA. Especially if you were laid off. Labor laws vary by state to state and if you are not in Texas, you are not entitled to the same laws as Texas!

They don’t want remote workers after the pandemic and it’s obvious. The remote workers was/will be eliminated in layoffs
Not a hot take. Sorry. There’s a few class action suits against companies for remote employees who didn’t reimburse for work related expenses. 90% fail.
In office / hybrid / remote is a job requirement and business decision. Plain and simple. You have zero case. But by all means go pay a lawyer. I’m sure there’s plenty that will be happy to listen and take your money.
I get / support the notion of what you’re saying. These remote employees aren’t laid off for being remote.
However, there’s certainly some fair labor, questionable hiring (and promotion) practices that are pretty blatant against remote employees.
